I love mine but would like a 40 to compete in competition where .40 and up only is allowed. If it is anything like my SP01 it would be great.

I would think that eventually they will offer the SP-01 in 40 S&W. It may take a few years but it will happen.

seems like the slide mass is already there to make a workable .40, the mags already exist.
could the breechface be enlarged on the existing sp01 slide???

I put a .40 cal topend on one of mine and its a real soft shooting .40 pistol. Just did it to see what the concept would be. I think it would be a great way for CZ to enter the US Police market. I'm thinking polymer framed decocker in .40.

If you use a polymer frame you will be taking away the advantage of the weight of the steel that counter acts the felt recoil.

In .40 with the weight..it would be great service gun..
sure would be great if CZ-UB would make the Combat II to be imported to CZ-USA..
that would be a great .40 too..
