Title: CZ 85 Combat ***Identification Help***
Post by: berts on February 17, 2015, 08:14:09 PM
Hello all, first time I've posted but have been lurking around soaking up knowledge for some time now. I currently own and have owned many CZ'S but I've got one I could use some identity help with that I just picked up from of all places Gander Mountain. It's a CZ 85 Combat. Has 92 stamped on the slide. Has the A.A.L. importers stamp as well as the made In Czecholovakia  on the slide. Has no fbp and the rounded hammer. It does not have the rounded style trigger guard.  Looks like someone put a fibre optic sight on the front and has the original adjustable rear sights. Any input would be great.  I'd post a picture bit after several tries I can't figure it out.  Thanks

Welcome to the forum. Looks like you have a Transitional. When they were going to the new design but still using slides without FP Block. Nice looking pistol.

Nope. I'm wrong. The combat always had that trigger guard.
http://www.czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=14699 check this link out. It's a pretty informative read.
And the combat doesn't have a FP Block. Sorry, when I first mentioned transitional,  I was thinking 75 not 85.

Be gentle with that rear sight. No parts are available.

Brought in my Action Arms, one of the US importers back in that time period.
Made in 1992 from the born on date. so marked Czecholovakia, not Czech Republic which I think happened in 1993.

Thanks for the help everyone.    I have noticed is that there are a lot more visible tooling marks on this compared to my  more modern ones. I keep hearing about the sights and lack of parts makes me scared to shoot it.
Another question.
Will this one work with the new magazines ? They fit.

New style mags should work.

I can't see how shooting would damage the rear sight. Just don't drop it or try to knock it out.

Go ahead and shoot it. Worse case scenario is you have the slide milled. Then you can put on the sights you want[emoji6]
