Title: Beretta APX
Post by: Cyanide on February 23, 2015, 10:11:31 AM
Uh-oh! Looks strange but, I personally like it. I was just thinking that Beretta might have made this by taking cues from the PX4 design. I just hope that once it goes into production they will make it into a family series of full size, compact, and subcompact models ala Glock, PX4, XD, etc.

Here's another article about it:

It's a Glock made in Italy.  :)

It's Beretta's attempt at a Sig P320. It's direct competition for the U. S. Armed Forces Modular Handgun System. It kinda looks like Sig has it wrapped up only because Beretta hasn't made the 45 ACP conversion available for testing.

It's a Glock made in Italy.  :)

It's a Steyr made in Italy, IMO. ;)

The functionality of a Glock, now ergonomically designed for Humans! (tm)

On the Pafoa forum it's already taking a beating before anyone has actually shot one. The design of the grip is very ergonomic and they actually gave lefty's some consideration. I am not a Beretta fanboy period ,but I like the grip and the slide looks like you should be able to get a decent grip on it front or rear to rack . If it does not have a bleep trigger system I would definitely consider one. I am not in love with the overall look ,but I am more concerned with function and trigger pull on a striker fired not the looks. It differs a lot from all of their other designs. Some arsenal / glock influences yes for sure. I want shoot this one.

Did not see this one coming. Have to see what the price point is, and compare the trigger to my PPQ. I figured they would do something with the PX4 to make it more military worthy. Instead they went striker. Interesting.

Interesting how they put widely spaced serrations all the way from front to back except where the Beretta logo is.

A lot of stiff competition in that market. The widely spaced serrations make sense for people wearing gloves, so I don't see that really as a negative. If their magazines, say from the Storm were able to be used in the APX, that would be a plus, but doesn't look like it. Havent been able to find much more on it.

I like the serration design a lot. They look plenty deep enough that you essentially are going to have great purchase no matter where you grab on the slide.

Hard for CZ fans to really nitpick that feature. ;D

Not that I have a problem with CZ's or most closes; I think the serrations could be done a BIT better in some cases, but generally, I just accept that I need to be a little more cautious than I am with guns that have big honkin' square slides.

That is a very intriguing design.  I would also be interested to see how it stacks up against the PPQ as far as the ergos and trigger.  The slide serrations are a great idea as it allows for a lot of versatility for racking the slide.  I'll be keeping an eye on this one.

It's amazing that this forum is a lot more positive than the Beretta forum is on the take of this gun.
I posted this on the Beretta forum a couple of days ago and stand by it:
"My 2?...
I think it looks good. It's is not blocky like the Glock and the serrations may not be pretty to some but will be easier to rack the slide with.
I am going to wait until it makes it's appearance, handle and shoot it before I make any more judgements."
