Title: CZ MODEL 85 EXTRACTOR ISSUE HELP PLEEEAAASE
Post by: Jimmybeamer on March 04, 2015, 04:19:55 PM
Hi guys my model 85 doesn't extract the cartridge causing a jam. It's happening more and more. I have ordered new extractor springs and a recoil spring.
I have also heard of putting in the wolff extractor spring because it is stronger and apparently the factory spring for 85 wasn't great.
On top of this I might put in a dpm recoil spring system.

We don't have much info here in South Africa so your advice is much appreciated

What advice do you need? Seems you're doing everything already - although I wouldn't waste my money on the DPM system.

What are you using for ammo?

Some owners have had problems with aluminum cased Blazer.

You might also look to see if the extractor moves freely. They can get dirty causing the same symptoms.

Hi grendel thanks for your reply.
Could you tell me why you wouldn't go for the DPM system?

Because personally, I think they are a solution looking for a problem. It's not like 9mm has a particularly savage recoil to start with and it's unlikely to have any bearing on a failure to extract other than to make it more likely by slowing the slide down.

Were I you, I would remove the extractor, examine it for any burrs or deformation of the hook, clean the channel thoroughly, then if it was okay, reinstall it with a new extractor spring, preferably the Wolff extra power version.

The extractor should pivot on the pin otherwise it can't move to hook on to the case rim.

You might try removing it and cleaning out the channel. Be careful of flying springs. You don't have to remove the pin all the way. Use a punch to push it down from the outside, with the slide removed of course.

The stock extractor spring in my 85 has worked flawlessly in my 85 for thousands of rounds.

painter +1!

The FIRST thing to do is to clean the extractor channel and insure it's free to move back and forth or in and out or.... :D.
