My LGS just got in a small batch of the discontinued CZ 452 Special Military Trainers I am getting one for myself, but I had planned on getting a 452 Scout for my daughters 8th birthday. The Trainer is only an inch and a half longer in length of pull than the Scout. Will that really make a big difference for an 8 year old girl who is average to tall for her age?
Which one would you get for her? I'm going to make the purchase in the morning so I'm really looking to hear from you guys tonight!

Get one of each. :P

I'm thinking about it. Might just get two trainers though and put one in a youth stock.

If you're going to put peeps on it or leave on the irons then the Trainer is a better rifle and in the long haul I think you will want one. The disadvantage with the youth stock is that with the longer barrel the balance is going to be off. If you think you'll only shoot with a scope then the extra sight radius won't matter, so you could get the Scout and get a full length stock later. But if you have the funds then get both. I have a scope on my Scout with a full length stock that I use for silhouette. On the other I have BRNO peeps.
BTW, if you haven't already, check out Appleseed (appleseedinfo.org).

two score days short on this topic but I'd probably opt for the scout for her due to the lighter front weight to hold up. You can always pick up a used take off stock from a trainer or maybe an American.
OH and OP what did you end up purchasing?

I ended up buying three 452 Trainers. She loves it, even though its still a bit to heavy for her. We are working on prone shooting only for now so its not that big a deal. And she is growing like a weed so she'll be grown into it in no time. I love the one I bought for myself! Awesome .22lr rifle!
