Before I attempt to take it apart give me some advise on how to do it. The catch is solidly jammed.
Thanks
Tom

I have had some luck removing the plastic grips and using a thin but stiff automotive feeler gauge, sliding it up between the curved part of the magazine catch and the front of the magazine.

Thanks for your reply. I was able to free the magazine but the catch itself is jammed. Perhaps the spring is broken and stuck. I looked at the exploded view of the 82 but I could not find anything obviously wrong with the mechanics.
I have the trigger guard and catch soaking in Kroil, perhaps that will help.

In my search for info I came across this web page. Perhaps it can help someone else as well.

That site is outstanding. I'll echo that going there is the best next step on trying to solve the problem.

The Sailorcourt web site that I mentioned above was the key to helping me solve the problem. It took a bunch of fiddling and filing and test fitting but I got the catch to work better than ever. All my mags work including the cheapo $19.00 one I just bought.

A good video for working on the mag realease - "Zeke Shoots: CZ-82/ CZ-83 Mag Release How to"
Did mine following this - very straightforward!!

Loose grips and crappy mag release are the common downfalls of the -82. Clean up all the rough edges on the release parts once you get it disassembled.
