Does anyone here have the Leupold VX-1 2x7x28mm scope on their 455 or 452 Trainer. I can get a pretty good price on a new one and I think I can get by with a set of medium hight ring but I'm not sure. If anyone has this scope I'd sure like to hear from you. Thanks

That's a good question. That model seems short enough that the front of the objective may not touch the rear tangent sights if you move the scope as far back as possible (should still have enough eye relief), but the medium height rings may mean part of the rear tangent sight will be visible through the scope. Of course, length of the scope is a non-issue if you'll be removing the rear sights anyway.
Another consideration is the bolt as it seems I need quite a bit of clearance with my scope (Nikon Prostaff) which has a larger eyepiece diameter than the Leupold model above, so I had to go with a high height set of rings. (I picked a see-thru model to be able to use the iron sights as well since I had to get a high height set of rings anyway.) In your case, just eyeballing it of course, it looks like you'll be okay with medium height rings overall.

This list can be helpful... http://www.rimfirecentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=336921
It isn't absolutely comprehensive, but there are many combinations.

I have the same scope coming from Midway. It will fit my 455 FS w/ no problems, I'm using Warne QD medium height rings, fwiw.

I don't have the Leupold, but do have a Weaver 2-7. It is mounted on my FS with medium Warne QD ringside it fits just fine.

Thanks for the responses. It looks like the guys with the FS don't have a lot of problems clearing their rear sight but mine is about the size of a small housecat. It looks like I'd have to drive out the pin to remove it and I really don't want to do that.

If you don't want to remove the rear sights, you can get the taller scope rings. This is what I got myself so I can still use the iron sights without removing the scope:

It works quite well although it isn't a quick disconnect type, which is fine for my purpose since I don't need to remove it to use the iron sights.

The 2-7 will sit behind the rear sight. You don't need to remove it.

Thanks everyone for the advice.

As a general rule, 11"+/-, depending on your specific eye relief, will fit behind the rear sight. If longer that that, it will have to go above the rear or you will have to remove the rear sight to get the proper eye relief.

Is that scope a VX-1. If it is then is it the 28mm rimfire version or the 32mm version?
