Title: 1st shots with my 40 B
Post by: Brian Ahearn on August 25, 2015, 09:27:23 AM
Finally after over a week since I picked up my 40B I finally got to the range to shoot it. Today I only had a variety of hollow points, mainly Remington self defense ammo high velocity 40S&W 180 gr JHP, they shot flawlessly. I had zero issue in my 1st 100 round , all type of my hollow points shot fine. I don't have any standard FMJ 40 S&W. What brands of ammo do these pistol like? I will most likely I will only do two things to this one, smooth out the trigger a bit , and make the rear sight all black ,eliminate the small white dots. Then I just need a new larger front dot sight. Overall I am really happy with this purchase. The extra mags that I picked up from CZ USA worked perfect.

Brian,

with your background,, can't wait to hear what you can do to the Best .40 handgun period,   I have reshaped grip, beavertail, etc and added a 16 lb main spring... ( now awaiting Cerokot) and it is simply awesome..   buttery smooth DA,   needs a CGW race hammer to break crisply,, but still very doable.. (and in my future project basket).   Simply, the more I handle it, the more I love it... period.. and did I mention  a dream to shoot?   better than my PO6 and 75B in .40.

I should buy more.    If you ever get a chance. read about Burningsquirrels adventure with the gun.. eye opening.

cheers,
K in MI

Yes I already spoke with Dave about what Cajun parts should be use in this one and have my order list ready. I have installed a  large green fiber optic sight already , I have a XS Big Dot as well that will fit this one. I am heading out to the range in ten minutes for my second shooting session to verify point of aim with the new front sight. I blacked out the rear. My groups off the bag yesterday were not bad ,but after some of Dave's Cajun goodies  get installed I would expect much tighter groups with the improved trigger pull. The stock trigger pull and feel is the only negative that I have found on this pistol so far. While the stock pull is normal this one feels extra gritty. Cost wise I am looking at about $311.00 in upgrades with out any refinishing. Right now I will focus on the internals with this one not the cosmetics.

I'm not a big fan of the .40 cal S&W cartridge but the CZ40 could get me to at least tolerate the round.

All my first Cz's were .c40's.  3x and a first time handgun owner.  All great an easy to shoot!  Accurately an reliably. The 40b with my changes a top contender for favorites!
