I have a newer 97b with the fibre sight...I'm much older with failing eyes and want to keep on shooting as long as I can...I shoot red dots on several other guns and wonder if anyone can give me some idea about using one on the 97b. I have a new Unidot in the closet but think the tube mounting may be impossible on the CZ...any thoughts or experience much appreciated...i'm just a paper buster with a maximum of probably 25 yards as a general rule.

You want the Springer Precision mount and a Burris Fastfire III. Done deal. ;)

There are two Springer CZ optic mounts: one for the Shadow and Kadet, one for the CZ75. You want the one for the CZ75. Fits the 97, P-09, P-07 dovetail cuts just fine. Link is here:

Wow...thanks...that looks like a good set up....I haven't looked but I'd guess the stock CZ rear is a drift fit into the dovetail so just a brass punch and out it comes...correct? thanks again

If memory serves, that's correct. If memory does not serve, there may be a set screw of some kind. ;)

I have had a Burris Fast Fire III with 3 moa dot on my CZ-97B"E" since February. I used the Springer Precision 75B mount, works great. I just got home from shooting the pistol at bullseye practice. Really good setup in my opinion. I have the same setup on a P-09 also.

I've read just about enough of this 97B"E" stuff. Going to get with David after Christmas and get one for myself and add the FastFire.

I purchased the Springer Precision 75B mount for my CZ97B and put burris surefire. Looks just like the picture. The mount slid into the dovetail cut too easily. I used lock tight when tightening the set screws. At the range the mount came loose after firing 100 rounds. Sad.

I had to shim mine to tighten it up on the 97 as well. I think there is some variation in the dovetail of the guns. I had to file the one I put on the 75B slide last week but shim the one on the 97. The P-09 was just right. Be sure and snug down the fore and aft set screws as well. I used 0.002" shim stock, I think. If you can get it tight once, it will be good for a long time.

Well, this was fun while it lasted.
I shoot extremely accurate with burris red dot but was having touble becuse the burris would come loose. So I switched from blue lock tight to red lock tight. Has been doing great until this friday (5/27/16). Unfortunately, the Burris flew off the plate yesterday and now I cannot put the screws back in place to secure the Burris.
I put the factory rear sight back on.

Frank, check to see if your (replacement now) screws are too long. On one of mine, the screws would bottom out before the sight was tight on the mount. I had to take a file and knock off about one or two thread lengths worth of screw length so that the sight would be tight. After that, no more trouble.

Thanks Joe. I think I will just keep the iron sight on for now. I think I will look around online for a CZ 97B slide. If I can find a slide for sale then I'll have someone machine a Burris Fast Fire onto it.

I had one on my CZ 97 B but gave up because it kept coming loose even with red lock tight. The Burris Fast Fire now sits on top of my Mossberg 930 spx tactical shotgun.

Well, the "race mount" will require drilling and tapping the eight screw holes in the frame and the little bugger will never come loose after that. Radical but doable if you are dedicated to the red dot.
I agree that the red dot is the way to go with old eyes and thicker lenses mounted on our noses!
The thing I am finding out about my newly aquired 97B is you could mount a live chicken on the dovetail and the beast will still do its job...so far out to fifty yards off the back deck..."goose for dinner, tonight, hon!"

Thanx for the pic IDiscribe! Lotta' light between the dovetail and the mount and I wonder I'd this might add a bit of rocking couple to the equation. I will use some Devcon Steel Epoxy on the fore and aft sections of the mount, (with a releasing agent on the slide!!!) and machine away the extra. This might be helpful for a longer round count between"oh bleep" moments, when the contraption needs refitting...IMHO

I had to shim the mount on my 97B and on my P-07. I used some .005" shim stock but a soft drink can metal will do, so thin you can cut it with some scissors. Then I used the fore and aft screws on the one that didn't almost touch. Perfect would be shim or epoxy fore and aft, AND a tight dovetail fit. The variation seems to be in the CZ dovetails, not the Springer mounts.

Have they corrected the problem with slide mount getting loose on the Springer Precision mount for the CZ97? Need a mount for the Vortex Viper i just ordered for my CZ97BD and old eyes. i see they added polymer tipped set screws fore and aft to the mounts to make the sight mount much more stable is this a new design?

I had to shim one that I put on a 97 a couple of years ago. It's been fine since, over many thousands of rounds. I think the variation is in the pistols more than in the mounts. There is only so much Springer can do. I have the Springer mounts on a P-09, 97, and 75B. And I have one ready to go for a P-10C when I get it.
