Title: first CZ...CZ 75 compact plus question
Post by: GRJY on September 27, 2015, 12:03:00 PM
Hello,

I finally picked up my first CZ. I ended up getting th CZ 75 compact. I really like the gun a lot. I have owned an assortment of handguns including Sig P series, 1911, Glock, and M&Ps. I must say the CZ is a nice handgun and i wish i bought one earlier. The trigger is pretty good, the gun balances well and is accurate. Here is a picture of my target from 25 feet with two 14 round groups. This was with no rest. I took my time between shots to see what kind of accuracy I could produce.

Needless to say I am happy. I have a quick question I noticed after the second range trip that the front sight as a slight amount of play. It really isnt much but it is there. The roll pin is installed. I have read the roll pin holds the barrel bushing in so I made sure to check. It is there still. Not sure if the amount of play in teh front sight is a problem. It is really negligible and I doubt it is enough to cause accuracy issues because it is shooting great. It just barely slides front to back. It is a small amount and I do not even have anything that can measure that small of movement. Should i just leave it? should I pop the pin and sight out and put some loctite in there? Should I just pop the pin and expand it a bit since it is a roll pin? Thanks very much for any feedback.

I would just leave it alone and continue to enjoy shooting it.

I just checked my CZ's and none of the four front sights have play.

It's probably not going anywhere like bugboy says, but it would bug the crap out of me until I fixed it, although I don't know what that would entail. Might be a bigger pin, but I'm not the guy to ask.

Welcome to the Forum GRJY
Front to back is much better that side to side
Sounds like the Notch for the Cross Pin was cut a bit long
If it bothers you, you can knock the Pin out, pull the Sight and drop a bit of Loctite, Black Max in the Groove

Then reinstall the Sight

Thanks for the replies so far. Yeah I can only notice front to back. If her is any side to side play it is small enough not to notice or cause accuracy issues.

I may swap front sight to fiber optic or mepro some time in the future so I am not sure I want to use any extra strong loctite. I will probably just leave it since it so negligible. I just wanted to make sure it wouldn't cause issues for the pin and bushing, which it doesn't sound like it will.

Does anyone know where you can get the correct size fiber optic front sight that is predrilled for the pin?

Greetings from Chicago! My first CZ was the Compact L. Love that gun.

Enjoy!

I believe pre drilled sights do not exist unless they are used. The CZ Custom web site will give you some front sight options.
The front sight RP is 2mm I believe. I used a1/16 RP Punch with no issues.
Tools and Tips are also listed on the website.

Call CGW to be sure, but I think their fiber fronts are pre drilled.

What cntry said.  I recently red CGW's site describing that.
Drilling it isn't hard at all,  "if" you follow the instructions.

Thanks for the welcomes  :) I read cgw website and it appears the front sight is pre drilled. The picture looks like that is the case as well. I will call ad ask tomorrow. I am probably gonna be getting a second compact soon, then I was eyeing the sp01. I really like the m&p(s) and the 1911 I still have but they may be seeing the back of the safe for a while  ;)

YUP. Looks like standard procedure for a 75 compact.   ;) Nice shooting.

And it sounds like your well on your way to catching "CZ addiction",, which does have a habit of pushing other guns into the deep dark recesses of the back of the safe.  ;D
