Dang CGW "E" pistol is phenomenal. Shooter has a good day once in a while...

No, I'm not going to clean it.

I would be happy if that was 25 yards with two hands.
-
My guess is Joe was actually shooting backwards over his shoulder with a mirror.
Would probably do a lot better if he would clean it . . . . . ;)
-
Dang! Even his bullet holes made an "X" pattern. Show-off! ;D
Nice shooting Joe.

Excellent shooting sir!

So thrilled that David received my 97b blue today for some work.

OK, I removed the barrel, soaked it with solvent, ran a brush through it with a soaked patch, ran a patch wrapped around a mop, then three dry patches through it. It's clean. Added some lite grease, put it back in the slide and the slide on the frame, dry fired it tonight some.
I'll know by noon tomorrow whether or not cleaning it ruined it. I also ran a patch or two through the Kadet. 670 rounds since last patch. Chamber, breech, and firing pin were in need of cleaning. OK, I've cleaned the guns. Match in two weeks, so, if I ruined them, maybe they will be shooting OK again after a few hundred rounds. They won't be cleaned again until dang near Thanksgiving. Or Christmas.. :) :)

Just got back from the range. As expected, the 97 shot exactly the same as it did before I cleaned it, which was excellent. Shot a 92 slow fire at 50, and a 97 and a 98 timed fire, so all is well with the 97. No surprise.
The Kadet didn't shoot where I called the shot for the first 30 rounds. Then either the gun or the shooter settled down. It was probably me, but I am NOT cleaning the barrel again before the match in 13 days. I will have to check it from a rest next time to see if it is me or the barrel. If I clean it again.

I have a question. How many shots does it actually take to re-foul a cleaned barrel? I would think about 50 to 60 perhaps. I have never gone beyond 500 rounds without cleaning the barrel (re-lubing was done at 250 rounds), and didn't notice any deterioration till then. I do feel that first 25 to30 rounds are not the best out of a clean barrel, but not that bad either at 25mtrs single hand. Just the groups are not as tight. All this is observed for 9mm only, which I mostly shoot.

Coolbox--I don't know. 80% of what I post about cleaning guns is in jest. When I have 'scoped the centerfire pistols, they just weren't very dirty, no lead and little copper. The .308 centerfire rifle was a lot worse. The .22 rifle was a .19 and didn't look good at all. The Kadet bore never looks bad, compared to the 22 rifle. The rifle bore looks ok from chamber to mid point, then there is a lead buildup from there to the muzzle.
I've never noticed much difference in the pistols after cleaning the bores. I've always noticed a difference in the rifles, especially the 22 with lead bullets.
The pistol barrels must be easier to manufacture also--they look very smooth and slick compared to the 22 rifle bore which has lots of visible chatter marks in it. This has to make a difference in how long they will go before the build up is enough to swage the bullet mid way down the barrel and loosen it up as it exits the muzzle causing the accuracy to tank.
So, bullet choice, barrel finish, etc. all must affect how long you can go. I went waaay too long on the rifles but don't know how long I can go on the pistols. I've gone several thousand on the centerfire pistols without scrubbing the bore with no loss in accuracy. I'm not sure my P-09 barrel has ever really been cleaned very well after 12k rounds.

Well, I made some small changes to the excellent DaveB grip panel on the right side, and was able to shoot this group today at 50 yards, standing, single hand. I can't believe this is even possible...

Would have been a really good score if I hadn't have released one shot earlier than planned.
Dang gun is phenomenal. Shooter needs work.

That is excellent shooting.
What are the dimensions on these targets?
Sizes of X ring, 10, 9 and subsequent rings?
I remember you posted them once, but I cant find them.
I use ISSF precision fire target for 25mtr slow fire, and it has a 2" 10 ring (including the inner '+' which is 1" dia), all subsequent rings are 1".
-
Coolbox--
x is 1-5/8" diameter
10 is 3-3/8"
9 is 5-1/2"
8 is 8"
nothing else matters.

Thank you Sir.
The targets I shoot are a bit different, explained a bit more clearly below.
+ or x is 1"
10 is 2"
9 is 4"
8 is 6"
7 is 8"

I like mine better. :) :)

Yes I would too. But its this ISSF that wouldn't listen..
-
Nice group for 50 yards man.
I also find that my 97B is an awesome shooter.
-
Thank you for posting this up - I've shot bullseye with only 1911s to this point, and have been looking over this past year to see if anyone was going to use their 97b now that the CMP rules have changed. That's great shooting there, and assuming all the rest was equally as good, you would've earned some leg points at many matches.

Now we just have to get one of those fancy octogan barrel German 97's in your hands.

I got my CZ 97BE back from CGW and took it to the range last week.
At 10 yards it kept shooting through the same hole in the target--awesome.
Before I sent it for the "E" conversion, there was a little barrel-play (upper-right to lower-left) which made the shots spread horizontally.
Now it puts the shot right where you aim it.
Thanks, CGW!
