Title: New 83's at Buds gunshop
Post by: cntrydawwwg on November 13, 2015, 11:39:49 PM
Looks like Buds has some new 83's listed. http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/mobile/product/83439/cz-usa_cz83_380_12rd_black
CZ must have found some sitting on a shelf.

Ouch! Looking at the price I sure am glad I bought one in 2013... And yet I like shooting  83s so much it is actually tempting (LOL).

Like AMM, I'm pleased with my Nickel plate 83 and don't need another, but sorely tempted to get a NIB 83 in black, just because there may never be another chance. Oh the temptation!

Pardon me if I may sound stupid. Is it worth it to buy the 83, even though CZ stopped its production? Won't there be a problem in its parts availability? Because I really want one, and there is a factory new 83 here in the Philippines.

Can you get the CZ-83 at your LGS cheaper than the ones offered at Bud's? Bud's $486.16 may seem kind of high, but that's probably not all that bad for a brand new 83 with 2 magazines.

I don't know much about the 83's but I believe CZ USA still has a bunch of parts.

"Worth" is highly subjective.  If you want an 83 more than you want $500, I'd say go for it.  In a lot of ways the 83 doesn't fit the current US market as it's a fairly large firearm for its caliber (almost certainly why they dropped it), but at the same time there are lots of people who really like them.  Only you can make the call on if it's worth it to you.

But that said, I wouldn't worry too much about parts, at least for the foreseeable future.  I've had no problem finding parts for WWI and II rifles - you should be fine with a firearm that they stopped importing only recently.  Sure, you won't find the same selection of parts as if you purchased a G19, but it's not like you won't be able to repair the firearm if something were to break.

If you can live with the caliber, find ammo or reload, you'll find it to be very easy to shoot well. At least I sure do. It's my favorite shooter because I shoot it so well without effort, making it a joy.

The Underwood Extreme Penetration rounds show great penetration and wound channel , making it a very viable self defense weapon that's easy to conceal.

I am still surprised how much I like mine, and feel fortunate I found a nearly new nickel plated one for a very reasonable price.

If you're concerned about parts in the future, buy some spares now, one of each spring perhaps as a start. I had to tweak the slide release spring on mine but not replace it. The grips cracked near the screws, so I've bought wood grips from Thailand.

It's a wonderful gun that runs nicer than a Walther, and Bersa can't hold a candle to either.

It's a great temptation to buy a new one as backup, especially with the layaway offering.

If you can live with it being a 380, you likely won't have regrets. I don't.

Buds prices are usually competitive with the market. The high price reflects scarcity in my opinion. Its worth is in the eye of the beholder. If I want an 83 for my CZ collection It might be worth it. The price is similar to that of the P07, P09 and not much below the 75. The rami is about $100 more if you are thinking concealed carry.

I like CZ 83s, but for 30 bucks more, you could get a 75 from Bud's.
