Title: Excessive force needed to move slide.

Both of my CZ-82's are stiff as a board when opening the chamber.  I know Wolff makes after market springs. If so is this my problem and what pound spring rating would fix the problem? Am guessing these are original springs. Thx!

Hard to guess based on just a description -- but the Wolff springs are heavier than stock, and trade off a stiffer slide against reduced recoil.

Don't feel bad, my wife can't rack my cz-82s either.  :P

Both of mine aren't too bad to when racking the slide. I've tried all of the Wolff spring 3-pack (14, 16, 18 lb) in one of them. Didn't make alot of difference.

Try pulling the hammer back before racking the slide, so you're not fighting the hammer springs too.

Head down to your local AutoZone and pick up a tube of Molle Paste.  Back home, break down your pistol and work the paste into the inside of the slide and everywhere the slide touches the body of the pistol.  Let it sit about 20 minutes, then clean off the excess paste (Hobbs #9 and an old toothbrush will get this done).  Then aplluy your usual RemOil, Ballistol, or whatever your choice of cleaning/lube fluid.  Towel it off and reassemble.  Problem solved...it'll rack smooth as butter.

I already lubricated the slides with Cabela's gun grease. Better - and a cocked hammer also helps.

I have both an 82 and an 83.  The 83 seems like it requires excessive forceto rack the slide compared to the 82.

It kind of feels like it is something impinging on the slide about midway through the motion, but disassembling and looking for scoring hasn't revealed anything.

Putting another 200 rounds through didn't seem to make any difference.

In addition, it seems to take significantly more force to pull the trigger guard down to strip it.

Anyone else having similar issues?

Take the slide off and look to be sure the pin holding the extractor is not the culprit. Usually the pin is staked so that the pin can't interfere with the slide operation.

shoot it more. new springs take time so set sometimes.

I had a Kahr CW45 45 ACP.  It was having issues, so I replaced the spring with another factory recoil spring.  It was so tight, I almost could not put it in the weapon!  I fired 200-300 rounds, and it still had issues, but the spring was much easier.
