Title: Intro and help picking new rifle
Post by: TeamRoper on January 14, 2016, 08:08:28 PM
I have been looking to buy a new CZ rimfire for target, plinking, small game, varmint, and coyotes.

I am right handed and extreme left eye dominate. My right eye is no longer correctable enough to get a clear sight picture shooting right handed. I am practicing and learning to shoot left handed. I have a Browning SA-22 and a Remington 550-1. The Browning is not scoped, the Rem has a 2 X 6 small mm scope.

CZ still sells the 452 in LH.

I want either a CZ 452 LH .22lr and purchase a 17HMR barrel or a 455  combo 22 - 17HMR.

I will be adding a nice scope to the one I decide on.

I have read about the difference between the older 452 vrs the newer 455.

So, would you purchase a new 452 LH 22 and but a 17 barrel or get the 455 combo?

Does CZ hand fit/match the barrels on the combos?

The stocks are ambi so I don't think the bolt actuation would be a big deal.

thanks

If you want a left hand CZ it will have to be a 452 in 22lr. The  issue is the 452 uses two different actions for 22 lr and the magnum calibers

No 455's have been made in LH versions.

ETA...

For varmints and coyotes you might consider a 527 in 204 Ruger or .223 Rem. They make an American in both calibers and a Lux with a hogback stock in .223.

I am left handed and I just ordered a 455 Varmint in .22LR to use in metallic silhouette matches. Boyd's makes a left handed thumbhole stock for the right handed CZ 455 action with the varmint profile barrel. I am thinking this will be a good way to go for outfitting my rifle.

ETA: The photo that Boyd's uses shows a right handed stock, but the description states it is a left handed stock.....

I would go with this one:

Or this one:

I would recommend the 455 line. I've been having lots of fun switching out barrel and stocks with my rifles. It offers great versatility for any situation you may need.
