I am thinking about getting my first 17 HMR. I have a lot of 22lr rifles and shoot them quite a bit, mostly rested range shooting. Right now I'm thinking of a 455 in 17 HMR but haven't decided on varmint vs standard barrel. Is there an accuracy difference between those barrels in 17 HMR? Has anybody compared them both, same day, same shooter?

I have a standard profile, and a varmint fluted profile barrel.
Both are very accurate, though, in general, the standard profile barrel shoots better. It's just the two barrels I have.
With the .17, I think the individual characteristics of the barrel have far more bearing on the accuracy than the profile thickness.
