Title: Vostok .22lr not ejecting.
Post by: Tommy Tree on February 19, 2016, 08:19:26 AM
Hi I've been given some old .22lr bullets They're "Vostok" solid point but they are not ejecting. They seem to load perfectly but appear to swell as they are fired. Most are very tight in the chamber and require a rod down the barrel to remove. They're a lead bullet with a grey case. The gun is a cz452 American.I'm guessing the bullets are from the early 70s.Its a green box with Vostok Sport Hunting on it.

Possibly steel case. Steel case .22lr ammo does not like any sloppiness in a chamber. I had some old RWS that blew a rim or two in a sporting chamber. Best to pull the bullets, dump the propellant in the garden and hose it in as fertiliser then dump the cases in water or oil to deactivate the priming compound before tossing them. Alternatively, just chamber the empty cases and fire them off. No pressure equals no swelling.
