About a month ago I picked up a Cz-52 with a manufactures date of 1955 . All my research has come up with a little more than that they exist but no one has seen one . Can anyone please Help ? Or does anyone know where I can go to get more info on this pistol. Thanks in advance .

Info on a CZ52 pistol manufactured in 1955?
______?
Could it have been dated 55 when it went back to the arsenal for some work? A picture or two would be helpful.

I recently picked up a book titled 'Cold War Pistols of Czechoslovakia'. It's helping me better understand my 50 & 52.

I know. I picked up a Pre-B 75 this weekend and know what year it was produced. I'm a geek, so this was a great book to pick up.

The extensive chapter on the Vz. 52 has to be one of the most complicated read on a pistol and serialization scheme. The author notes that it was meant to trick the West into overestimating the output and military strength of the armed forces. Suffice to say, a block serial scheme, skipped lettered prefixes, staggered number ranges, etc. created the illusion of much larger output than actually done. Supposedly, standard production ended in 1954 but leftover pistols were not completed and dated until 1955. The author's (James D. Brown) table on production by year and series merely states under 1955, "unspecified" and estimates 320 pistols left over from 1954 series production. My head hurts!
Tiberian - photos of your Vz.52 would be nice.
LittleJenny - would love to see photos of your pre-B on another thread.

I'll make sure to post some pics when I get it (waiting period in the ISR - ugh).

Looking forward to pictures of a growing CZ family!
To the OP: having one of the estimated 320 pistols manufactured in 1955 sounds pretty neat.

Jim or James Brown has a ton of them and wrote a book. Czech cold war pistols. All the info you need is in that book. Let me know if you need help.
