Went to the range today and put about 400 rounds through her. No failures whatsoever. Back home, I was gonna spend some time to clean her, but sheesh... she cleans quickly! It went way faster than cleaning any of my CZ pistols. So, to spend some more quality time with her, I removed the firing pin and cleaned it and the channel, as well as extractor.
But at first I couldn't figure out how to get the firing ping out. Seems like there was a ping missing. Google to the rescue, and the pin was located... under the extractor.
Anyway, I just wanted to share the detail strip guide that I found. Might be of interest to others.

I always thought you had to take out the extractor to access the firing pin. The pin block is in the diagrams but not really located. I always wondered what that hole was for. Most stuff online only shows how to do the trigger pack and taking apart the receiver halves. I was actually waiting for someone to do it and post it here before I fiddled with it.
After I go shooting this Friday I will take down the bolt on my guns to see how dirty it is under there. One of my Scorpions does not seem to like the aluminum cased ammo. The round gets hung up every now and then. The bolt closing on an empty that had turned sideways while trying to feed another round. Like the case is not ejecting properly. Wonder if the extractor needs a good cleaning. I always thought it was the aluminum cased ammo but like I said one gun runs it good but the other has about 1 or 2 out of a 300 round shooting session. With brass it runs like a raped ape. :-\
He says, "Not sure if you'd ever need to do this barring a very worn old recoil spring." regarding the recoil spring. CZ USA told me 10,000 for nato loads (+P) and 15,000 for standard USA pressure stuff. :-\ That recoil spring is little compared to that BIG ASS BOLT. I have 2 extra springs and 2 extra buffers when needed. Ive got around 3500 rounds through each gun.

Thank you, I needed this.

Yea it's nice to have this info easy at hand I just put it into my favorites under My CZ scorpion s I can find it if I need to Thanks O.P. for sharing.

Glad y'all find it useful. Disassembling the bolt was easy. I also enjoyed the added adrenaline when I saw my firing pin shoot out unexpectedly. To play it safe, once extractor is removed, push the fat FP retaining pin out while NOT depressing the firing pin block plunger. :) Once you're ready to catch the firing pin, just press on the FP block and it will be in your hand.
Reassembly is easy too. Reinsert the firing pin. Push it in while inserting the FP block plunger. You'll notice that the FP head will stick out farther but the pin is captured. Now insert the fat FP retaining pin, apply light force, push on the FP until it clicks and the retaining pin is seated.
I don't know if that was designed on purpose that way, but the way all the bolt components come together is brilliant. No roll pins...yay!
Should all be good at that point, but do perform a function check (using a punch to push FP pin, with and without FP block plunger depressed). Then reinsert the extractor spring and extractor (use a punch from the bottom up to help align the the extractor with the hole and push the punch back out by pushing the long pin in from the top of the bolt).

hey thanks for this! What did he mean by "positive hammer engagement?"
-
I assume he's referring to the sear engagement angle. (see this illustration: http://i.imgur.com/xqkShR1.jpg)
That's one thing I know I will not be messing with. I'm not trained, qualified or comfortable to reshape sears. A light polish? Perhaps, but I try to stay away from messing with sears.
If you want to lighten your trigger pull, I highly recommend the HB Industries trigger spring kit:

Install is easy and cheap, and makes the Evo much more fun to shoot.

gotcha. Thanks for that. I probably wont be messing with that either.

Can someone post picts of how to remove the firing pin for cleaning. I can't figure out the process for removal and am afraid of damaging the parts. When in doubt, don't use force, ask for help.
-
There is absolutely no force necessary. Hold your bolt carrier in your left hand, breach face facing to the right. Apply pressure with your left thumb on the extractor. With your right hand, use a small punch to push the long pin you see in the instructions posted in post 1 from the bottom of the carrier out towards the top. No punching is necessary, just pushing. Remove the long pin. Now slowly relieve the pressure on your thumb and the extractor and its spring will come right out.
The extractor springs rests on the fat FP retaining pin/block. Apply a little pressure to the firing pin and using a small punch push the fat FP retaining pin through the small hole on the opposite side towards you. If you were now to relieve your finger pressure on the firing pin, you'd notice it will stick out farther now, but not come free. Put your finger back on the firing pin. Depress the firing pin block plunger, which will free the firing pin and let it slowly come out. Once removed, you can also pull the firing pin block plunger and its spring out.
Reassemble in reverse order. Note that the firing pin has to be reinserted properly oriented, such that the FP block and the FP retaining ping can sit in the grooves. Also, as mentioned earlier, when you reinsert your extractor and hold it in with your thumb while pushing its retaining pin back in from the top of the carrier, it might be difficult hitting the hole. I used a small punch from the bottom of the carrier to help align the extractor with the hole and then pushed the retaining pin back through. You gotta wiggle the extractor a bit until the pin slips through the hole.
Again, no force necessary in any of these steps, provided you use your thumb/finger to put some pressure on the extractor and the firing pin to relieve any binding pressures caused by their respective springs.
I'll see if I can make a small video. It's a really very simple and quick procedure.

I highly recommend the HB spring kit as well. That, along with polishing of the trigger group, made mine a completely different gun. Reset was improved, but not where it should be...
Great video on polishing here - https://youtu.be/37B7yGWPAi8

That's not a full detail strip. You would have to take down the entire thing to component parts for it to be a detail strip.
-
No, it's not... Maybe a member here will take the time to do a video on a full detail strip.

There is a video on you tube that shows a detail strip. The guy stripped it down so he could get it cerakoted.

here is a link to a detail takedown

Yes, yes, but he doesn't take down the bolt or trigger group. This thread was in response to someone asking on how to take the bolt apart.
I don't know how many of you perform a total disassembly for cleaning. Seems a bit overkill to me. It's like insisting of taking the hammer, disconnector, and hammer strut of a CZ75 apart for cleaning. :) I don't see the point of taking the frame halves apart every time you clean it. (of course it's required for painting). I'd be worried that the barrel is no longer true in line with the rail after repeated total disassembly and reassembly. Things (like plastic, screws) might wear out unnecessarily.
The way I see it, there's field strip (remove trigger group and take bolt assembly out), details strip (take bolt and perhaps trigger group apart for cleaning), and then complete disassembly (leave no parts connected!). Again, this thread wasn't for the complete disassembly.
But if y'all want, I can see if I can change the topic to reflect whatever you want it say (or a moderator can do that).

Thank You!

Erm... yeah, that's the guide I posted in the first post of this thread. Did you look at page 1?
I think some are looking for a video on how to take the bolt apart. It's not that hard, and I hoped my instructions and pictures in Apex's guide was sufficient.

Yeah, I agree : I'm a little confused how someone can't see what to do with the pictures. Just pay attention to how it comes apart . I reposted because Your link didn't work for me.

I appreciate the link but I like video as a video is 30 frames per second usually. Being my post is 45 days old and now getting a reply I have had time to take the bolt apart, Thanks again for the link.

TIP: I used a 2 inch mini c-clamp to block the trigger pack return spring, before putting the hammer stuff on its pin. Made it very easy.

Thanks for this. Honestly, one of the things I've loved most about the Scorpion so far was astonishingly how easy it was to disassemble.

Thanks

I am new to this platform of weapons. I have the CZ Scorpion EVO S1 carbine and so far have about 200 rounds thru it. Mine has the Faux Silencer. I am think about removing it and installing either a Bird Cage or Prong flash suppressor. Anyone can give some advice I would appreciate it.

I have the S2 and it had a ton of thread sealant on it. I hope yours come off easier..

Definitely easier to get the bolt in and out as compared to my 10/22 as long as you don't do the CZ version of the Garand thumb!
