Beautiful, calm, sunny day in the mountains, no one else around, so I decided to spend some time improving my bench shooting technique. I knew I needed some practice when I couldn't shoot anything better than 6" with my P-09 that I USED to be able to shoot 4" with!
So I set up the target stand at 100 yards, and guessed at the holdover, set an aim point and tried it. First targets were OK at 7", but something was wrong. Decided to adjust the wrist rest so that I could put my elbows on the table, and that did the trick. Here is the CZ-97B"E" video.

I tried the P-07 at 100 yards one more time, but with 147 gr JHP Atlanta Arms match ammo left over from my SIG X-5 days. There are no videos because I couldn't get 5 shots on camera. I won't be trying 147 in the 3.8" gun ever again. 12-16" groups. I shot 6" in the wind with the 115 ammo. Last was the Kadet. I didn't really try very hard after the excellent results with the 97. I just can't go to the range without taking 10-20 shots with the Kadet, no matter what else I'm up to. But no 4" groups with the Kadet today. Couldn't get my head in the game.
Group size with a red dot optic on a pistol is dependent on how well you can duplicate the sight picture for 5 shots in a row. That takes a lot of practice. I don't understand why, but I seem to shoot more consistently if I DON'T use a dust cover rest. I do better if I'm not fighting with a rest to get the sight picture I want. This really is a vision test as much as anything, once you have a good pistol and ammo combination. I'm ordering some more 115 JHP from Atlanta Arms today. No 147 for me, at least for the CZ's. Had to try it.

Thanks for the post and the video. Nice shooting.

I've tried a couple different 147 grain bullets and 3 or 4 powders, so far, in my P09 and they just don't seem to be made for each other. The CZ 75 Compact isn't "loving" them either. But this weekend, with the P01, one of the better groups was with 147 grain bullets, so I'll see if I can do it again when I go to the range. Nothing near as far off as you're shooting, but still better groups than the P09, CZ 75 Compact or P07 have done for me.

Very nice group with the .45 pistol. Four inches at 100 yards is impressive.

Nice shooting Joe! I've got to get a 97 in the stable sometime in the future. FWIW, I've not had good luck with anything but 115 grain at these long distances either. Even 124 grain is noticeably less accurate at distance for me.
