Title: Do They Exist?
Post by: Birds Away on June 07, 2016, 09:04:51 AM
I have heard and read about CZ 75 pre-B compacts but have never seen one.  Actually, I've never even seen a picture of one.  I would dearly love to have one but, they must be pretty scarce, if they exist at all.  Anyone ever actually seen one?

Just like the elusive Fountain of Youth. We have heard of but not seen. :). Haven't seen one my self yet either.

Nope...but you never know with CZs; possibly if you can find a prototype from 1989 during the development stage. In Oct 1990, the firing pin block was added during the continued development. The original intent was to name it as CZ 75 Compact B but was simplified to just CZ 75 Compact. This is from a rough translation of the Padera book. The same can be said for the Semicompact in 1990 which didn't have a firing pin block during its development. That would be quite a coup to add that to your already fine collection of Compacts, Birds Away.

Well, I guess finding a Czechoslovakia and a Czech Made roll mark is still possible.  Gives me something to shoot for.
