Title: Is the New Evo Carbine Faux Suppressor Removable?
Post by: e1911 on June 21, 2016, 11:06:52 PM
Is the faux suppressor removable on the new Evo Carbine so I can use it with a suppressor or the faux suppressor?  CZ website says both come with 1/2x28 threads but can't find anywhere mention of being able to remove the faux suppressor or not.

Haven't seen it done yet.

I'm surprised nobody who has one has commented on it yet.  I have the faux suppressor version coming but only because it was the one available and sure hope I can take the faux suppressor off to use it with a real suppressor and also have the ability to chop the barrel and SBR it.  It never occurred to me that it wasn't removable but now I'm concerned it may not be.  Hope someone chimes in here.  Thanks.

dont see why it would not be removable, it goes over the barrel so its still over 16"

To me that's a bummer I was thinking it was a pinned faux suppressor that could be removed later if stamped.

The suppressor is removable. It is simply a barrel shroud and once removed, it has a 16" barrel identical to the carbine that comes with the flash suppressor.

Cool. How did you remove yours? Have any pictures?

I also received a note from CZ confirming it is removable by simply unscrewing. All good.

It is removable.  It is blue loctited.  I got mine off by hand after the first shooting session.

I also took mine off by hand. I used blue locktite and put it back on by hand.

Another +1 to the above - mine came off easily. Had 2 flat washers on it as well.

I agree with AZ CZ we have any pictures for the ones that have done it?
I am curious how the finish is under the faux silencer.

Is it just as good as the muzzle brake barrel, or does it have issues?

So how is the handguard retained on the gun. I am assuming the faux suppressor isn't how its held on?

Notice how A: threads don't go to the shoulder and B: barrel isn't relieved past the threads. Means my suppressor won't thread down far enough to index off the shoulder. AAC says it is fine to index off the face of the muzzle, but I'm concerned that the piston is bottoming out where the threads stop before it can index off anything.

The handguard on the carbine is kept in place the same way as the pistol handguard.

Is the faux suppressor a 1/2x28?

That's the spec.

Will a can index with its muzzle?

No. At least my Evo-9 bottoms out in the carbine's threads. The carbine's threads are not done to suppressor specs. :(. Won't index on the muzzle OR the shoulder. I'm temporarily using a peel washer to make it work. YMMV

So what are "suppressor specs"?

I'm looking at the picture here and the picture on the CZC shop 8" barrel and except for the crown they look the same.

Liberty Suppressors makes a spacer for running a .22 rimfire suppressor on a .223 barrel with long threads, it should work fine for this application as well.

http://libertycans.net/product/22-spacers-for-ars/

I'm sure there are other sources for a 1/2" spacer that would allow the can to shoulder.

Sorry for replying to an old thread but this seemed like the place to go.

I've got the carbine with the muzzle brake. Someone from one of the CZ boards sent me is faux suppressor and I'm going to put it on, but first I need to get the muzzle brake off. Anything special I need to do to get it off?

Cz-USA told me the muzzle break just unscrews.

Heat it up first. It might have thread locker on it just like the pistol barrel nut

I put a wrench over the hex part of the muzzle break. It was kinda hard to turn at first but it broke free pretty quick. Didn't seem to have much if anything holding it on.

When I put the faux suppressor on I used some blue loctite, as I've read that's what's done from the factory.

Ah, my bad... shoulda looked for the right forum for that.  Just wasn't thinking when I saw that other post I quoted.  Will post appropriately in the right place later.

My faux suppressor was removable by hand... the torque spec didn't seem that high and/or they didn't use thread locker.

For folks putting on muzzle devices, are you using crush washers to clock them?  The faux suppressor just has a washer in there which somehow seems to clock the SilencerCo logo reasonably well.  Depending how the laws in CA play out, I might have to go with a brake to get the OAL to snuff next year to explore unpinning the folding stock.

I have the EVO carbine with the faux suppressor, and was hoping that someone would give me a clue on the removal of it. I want to mount a M-LOC flashlight/laser on the forearm, but can't get the nuts past the faux can. I was able to unscrew the can with the use a strap wrench, but the terminal piece remained on the barrel (it looks like the business end of a real compressor). I can't get enough torque because the edge is only about an 1/8 inch wide. I would prefer to take the forearm off but can't see how to do that. (The manual is useless and their web site gives nothing) any ideas?

This is the product link to the CZ store website, http://shop.cz-usa.com/ProductDetail/AC1527_Evo-Carbine-Faux-Suppressor
This is only place I know that sells it new. Otherwise you can check the buy/sell/trade forum for 2nd hand deals.
Actually, I may sell mine in the near future as I'm playing with some different muzzle devices for my scorpion carbine.

yeah,...  that is crazy.  But again, we are paying for the silencerco name.  Most likely they are making them for CZ.
Title: Re: Is the New Evo Carbine Faux Suppressor Removable?

They are! Their name is on my fake can. It's really a fraud have a Silenceco device on the end of my barrel. If I can ever get that off, I'll put some kind of real suppressor on mine. When I ordered the gun, I had no idea that this $75 can did nothing buy pretend that it was a real muzzle device.

I still like the gun a lot, but a fake silencer was a real gimmick.

Alright, the fake can is left-hand thread.  Like you I  was trying to unscrew it but ended up the same situation where the end cap still in the barrel.  Off course I got some scratches on the end cap when trying to use a adjustable pliers and a piece of leather.
Then I remember that thread locker is defeated with heat (specially with the red thread lock) I grabbed my heat gun a applied high heat for about a minute and unscrewed the cap (right hand thread) by hand wearing a pair of leather gloves.  Taking a close look, it was blue thread lock.

I am thinking in putting a muzzle break since a flash hinder is considered an evil feature here. But again, I will put the faux suppressor back depending on my mood.

I think it's a cool look even though it does not silence.  Adding silencers is a real drag where you have to get your wallet out and keep it open and jump through a bunch of federal hoops.  I'd sure like to see the current administration change some regulations eventually.  What's not to like about making firearms quieter and not having to wear dang hearing protection?

I know this thread is old but before I mess up threads I have a question about the washers under the can. I have two and it seems they want to ?unscrew? off not just slide over the threads. Idk if there is a wad of blue lock tight wedging them on or what. So do I just unscrew them?
Title: Re: Is the New Evo Carbine Faux Suppressor Removable?
Post by: NOLAGT on March 08, 2018, 08:09:31 AM
Never mind it just had a wad of the blue stuff. I couldn?t see the lower threads so once I grabbed the washers with Pliers and unscrewed it back-and-forth a little bit the lock tight broke off and they just slid over the threads.

Mine faux suppressor got unscrew after first 200 shots by itself, looks like no loctide was applied on thread and washers etc there. I clean thread with alchogol and reapplied blue loctide and screw it back by hands. Hopefully it will stay :) Sorry for replying to old thread, but nothing newer about is available.

Hello everyone, just joined the group. I have a question as tp "how do I remover the "Faux" suppressor? I tried unscrewing it and the outside comes loose but I can't remove it as the end is attached... Thank you in advance. On another note... I just installed the Franklin BFSIII binary trigger and I can't wait to try it out this weekend.
