Picking up my PCR tomorrow. I love the stock rubber grips on my SP-01 but they are pretty thick and I also hear they hang up on clothing and can cause printing. What do you all think?
I really like the look of the half checkered Coco bolo's but I don't know how practical they are from a comfort and tactical standpoint.
-
That was my choice. I'm a big fan of VZ grips but for carry they snag cloths.
-
I love the comfort and feel of the rubber grips on my PCR but they just don't work well for carry so I went with stock plastic CZ grips on my PCR and steel frame compact.
-
I've carried a few CZ's through the years and I always end up with the thin aluminum grips: https://cajungunworks.com/product/10299-thin-aluminum-grips/
I've used this type of grip on both full size and compacts. I do however use a less aggressive tape rather than the skateboard tape provided: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00ATH0KEA/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I went with the VZ 320 Carbon Fiber G10 grips and I"m quite happy with them.

Love the stock rubber grips. Still have them on my P-01 ? and put them on my steel Compact as well. For me the CZ loses its famed ergonomics without the swollen palm grips.
-
I've carried with the rubber grips and factory plastics, with a good deal of time on the range practicing my draw from an IWB holster with both. I prefer the ergonomics of the rubber and have not had an issue with it snagging on clothes.
-
I'm not sure why, but even though I have a good length hand, I do not do well with larger grip diameters. My hands are pretty thick as well, so I always gravitate to the smallest grips possible. With this in mind I picked up a set of the CZ Custom Aluminum grips and LOVE them on the PCR!!!

I have those grips on my Shadow and they're great. Worth the money, for sure.

My choice as well.....they do cost a premium but they are worth it! I do sand the edges a bit, just my preference.

Here in Texas it's just too hot and humid to wear an under shirt for concealed carry. Unfortunately the rubber grips also grab my skin as I'm getting up or sitting down. Just uncomfortable. I too have ordered the stock plastic grips. Do these still have a palm swell and offer a reasonable firm grip?
For any other situation the stock rubber grips are hard to beat.

Yeah, I'm still very happy with them - they help with concealment well but they offer a good grip.
I just noticed that they used a pic of my PCR I sent them as the example in their 'more images' tab on the listing for these - my little PCR is
famous, haha.

I've ordered these for my PCR.
I love the look and feel of wood. I put the walnut grips on my CZ-83, and had to use medium Loctite on the screws, as they would shoot loose, but the look and feel was worth every cent. I hand rubbed in a little raw linseed oil/turpentine to showcase the wood grain. There is a warmth to the look that can never be achieved with synthetics or metal.
I plan to carry either/both, so I'll try the PCR with rubber and wood grips, but wood will likely be 1st choice.
-
I've got VZ tactical diamonds on my PCR & P01. Thinner than the stock rubber, and, of course, not so rubbery. Haven't found them to be too grabby on my clothes.
-
Just got the Zebra VZ FRAG G010 grips. Going to see how they work. They look nice though - like something Dillinger would carry.

Agreed!

I can use a some help selecting new grips. While they feel good in my hand the fat grips I feel will be harder to conceal so I am interested in thin grips. I would like something that it not too rough on my side (Glock gen 4 texture works fine for under shirt carry). The thin Aluminum checkered at CZ Custom look good as do the carbon fiber grips. I am worried they might be too rough and in the case of the Aluminum grips a little unpleasant holstering a cold gun (being a wimp). Any input will be appreciated.
-
The Conservative, all I can offer is to say that part of why I like the 'smooth' carbon fiber grips is that I can (and often do) carry my PCR against my skin without irritation. I don't like aggressive texture on grips, so the texture of them is plenty for me but might not be for someone else.

The aluminum grips look really nice and slim. How comfortable is it for shooting though?
One of the reason I got my CZs is because of the rubber grips. They are just so comfortable and fit my hand perfectly.
-
Sigken,
I love the rubber grips. The aluminum feels very nice and less bulky. Personally, after shooting couple of hundred rounds with both grips, i prefer the aluminum ones just a tad bit.
Thx

Thanks for your reply. You told me exactly what I need to know. I know everyone is different, but it is really looking like I will be pulling the trigger on a pair very shortly. Compact should be in tomorrow or friday and will decide then. They have the added benefit of looking really good.
-
^^Good luck and let us know how it goes, if you want to.

Has anyone tried the VZ Palm Swell grips for the 75? Hoping they come out with a compact version soon.

RT1121:
I Just installed the same CZ Custom grips on my PCR. MUCH nicer hand fit. Draws better and tread pattern has a very positive grip.
Also replaced guide-rod - drop-in easy, even with flat spring.
And added FO front site. Its like I added a red dot scope. Points much quicker now.

Nice 452. Can you post a pick of the FO front site? Did you install yourself and did you get it fro CZ Custom? Thanks!

I don't have a picture but it looks just like this:

Grips, sight, guide rod all from CZ Custom. I did the work.
Sight installed very easily. Instructions [pdf] was on the web site. Drift roll pin out, switch sights, drill hole - to cut slot in sightbase, replace roll pin.
One addition/clarification to the process:
put the optic in the sight and flare the end facing shooter, remove optic, install sight....pin, reinstall optic then flare muzzle end of optic to secure.

I have the CZ Custom Aluminum Checkered on my P-01, and the standard thin aluminum grips (with skateboard tape) on my PCR as well as SP-01. Both the P-01 and PCR are carry guns.
The checkered grips certainly look the best, but they are a bit uncomfortable for me. The fingertips of my firing (right) hand end up right on the leading edge of the left grip. The thickness of the grip there, combined with the checkering, make that part uncomfortable. (I know, soft hands...) If that leading edge was chamfered a bit, and/or the checkering was reduced there, it would suit me a lot better. I may end up standardizing on the thin skateboard tape grips on all guns.
-
The standard rubber grips are darned good! I don't know if I like these BETTER, but I do like them. VZ Zebra.

PS: For some reason I didn't envision the these laminate synthetic grips to be so hard/dense, but they are! the grip is in the sharp edges of the contours. They are very rigid; no deformation/spongy effect like the standard rubber grips that "stick" to your hand hold but the grip itself will move in the shear direction.
Again, totally different, but I like them both.
Not sure if this effects perceived recoil for sensitive shooters...

Anyone got some aluminum grips for sale?
