I have my CZ75D compact with the slide off so that I can give it a good cleaning. I pulled the trigger on the frame and the hammer popped down, but then I thought I probably should not have done that with the slide removed. Thoughts?

Hi!
I aviod to do this when cleaning. Only with some buffering on the hammer like a rug or so.
If the hammer falls free with no slide which stops it the hammer will stopped by the frame at the end of its way. This can cause battering the frame or more worse brake something or even the hammer itself.
Why should one do such a stupid action and "fire" the gun with no slide?
Guide the hammer with the fingers whilest let it come forward and watch the area where its coming to an end!
Best regards
Mathi

Just don't make a habit of doing that. Too many times and bad gun bots will be visited upon you.

Stuff happens. Once or twice won't hurt anything. Just don't make a habit of it.
