Pretty good for a 9mm. With ammo it likes, 2-1/2 inch groups at 25 yards.
2.) Feeding Reliability with hollowpoints or semi-wadcutters
Never a feeding problem, only the aforementioned stove piping.

Won 3rd place in a local IPSC match many years ago.
4.) Use as home defensive arm or CCW
Brief use as a defensive arm.

Very comfortable to shoot and shoot accurately. The trigger on mine is a little heavy in double action, but smooth, the single action has quite a bit of creep, but is also smooth.

Springfield P9Ultra.
1) Very good accuracy. It is the semi auto that got back into shooting. The porting on it really helps keep the gun down on target.
2) It never really liked lead, but anything else it would just take. TMJ's (155 winchesters) are its favorite with blue dot.
3) One coyote in Big bend area (outside the park) with 135 grn JHP's. 1 shot about 25 yards, and very "messy". My only comment at the time was "bleep, that have to hurt". About 6859 rnds fired.
4) Never done
5) Probably one of my favorites, briley put a new barrel into it because I went through a phase of 135 screamers trying to turn it into a 10mm and burned the barrel out of it.
Witness 10mm
1) good accuracy, reliable.
2) None, about 3284 rnds fired
3) none that I remember off the top of my head.
4) Was my truck gun for CCW for years. Only replaced by a Glock 20 due to additional capacity.
5) the supersight cannot take the recoil without heavier springs. Other then breaking mags due to the cuts no problems.
CZ97B.
1) Excellent. 50 shots, 2" 10 yrds! (not bad for 5 mag changes)
2) Excellent if the COL is less then 1.272 for FMJ's or JHP's. DO NOT load long for the 97b, Shorter is better in this rare case. 2724 rnds fired.
3) None
4) None
5) By far the best glossy finish of any modern gun I own. The bluing rivals the Python Royal blue from the 60's and is close to the bluing of S&W out of the 50's.
P9 9mm
1) So So but it is still very new (357 rnds fired so far)
2) Hard to say, to new to pass judgement. No failures so far, but 357 rounds does not truly test a gun.

5) shoots low, about 3 to 4" at 15 yrds with 115 grn JHP's. I think I need so 124 grn ammo and another 1000 rnds before I change out the front sights.

1. The most accurate gun I've ever owned, possibly the most accurate gun I've ever shot. Out of the box, the sights were dead-on.
2. Hollow points- never an issue. Only ammo to FTF or FTE was UMC. Never shot SWC.

4. Currently MY go to gun, next to the bed. Soon to be my girlfriends, too, now that she's shot it more than the PA-63 which resides in her nightstand.
5. I will NEVER EVER EVER sell this pistol. It's the best $335 I've ever spent.
Steel Witness .45 Full-Size
1. Excellent accuracy. Shoots dead flat, but a bit to the left out of the box. VERY tight groups, though. Never felt the need to adjust the sights, but I suppose I will some day.

4. Never needed it for that, but wouldn't hesitate after qualifying some HP's for the job.
5. Quite a nice gun. I think if I were to do it again, I'd get one in Wonderfinish as the parkerizing or whatever the finish is isn't the best. Held up so far, but not too pretty. Came in the .22/ .45 combo. Sold the .22 kit as it didn't do what I wanted it to do (shoot any kind of plinking ammo available for dirt cheap). Accurate, though.
Looking to pick up another Witness 9mm (compact) or a PCR very soon. I like the safety on the Witness better than on the 75B's as it can be used in DA mode. Leaning towards the PCR, though, as it's lighter and I have no problems with using a decocker over cocked and locked. PCR feels more comfy in the hand, too. I do't like the magazine being part of my grip as on the Witness compact.

Seen to many on other boards wanting to know the bad things that happen with the Tanfoglio/Witness pistols. I think they have an agenda but thats just my opine.
10mm Witness:
1.The pistol is hardy, actualy feel it is over engineered but I have no heart burn about that.
2.The pistol has been accurate, everyone that has shot this pistol has shot well. Good soild groups consistantly regardless of conditions or shooter. The pistol will shoot better then I can shoot it.
3.The pistol has been Reliable, I have fired a number of different ammo types in the weapon. It has yet to fail me and eats every type of ammo placed inside of it. No extra care needed, no polishing or porting...no such things needed.
4. I carry this pistol everyday. I work in Law Enforcement and I carry this at work and off duty. I have yet to have to use it in a defensive capacity it is my hope that I'll not ever have need, but as is said if you want peace prepare for war.

Accuracy. Honestly, I have shot more accurate guns, but I can get excellent combat accuracy from this weapon, and have no hesitation using it to defend my life, or others. Now, I have had 6 Witness pistols, and they were all a tad more accurate than mine, but I keep coming back to the original. My loving wife has a compact 40 Wonderfinish, and loves it.
Reliability. I had mine throated and polished for Hydra Shoks the day I bought it, and it has never failed to feed a thing. I have had about 6 FTE, all with handloads. This is with well over 10,000 rounds through it.
Matches? Whew! When I worked at the indoor range I shot every bowling pin match and IDPA we hosted for a year and a half, and won several BP,and placed well in IDPA - we had a former member of Team EAA shooting there, Tim Copperstone, so we never won IDPA....
Use as a defensive arm? This gun rode with me that last year with Wells Fargo Armored, all six years with AT Systems, (formerly known as Armored Transport, INC.), and now is my offcially approved off duty sidearm with AZ DOC.
I have never kept a firearm this long, much less carried it almost every day as I have this one. I have carried others occaisinally since I bought this one, but the Witness always came back to the hip. Sidebar - the CZ Compact almost replaced it....

1. Accuracy: all guns were bought for eventual concealed carry, so accuracy beyond 7 yards is a matter of indifference. At 7 yards, all shoot within an inch of POA and group 1" at most.
2. Reliability with hollowpoints: perfect.

4. Each is carried concealed, from time to time.
5. Other comments: I've quit griping about CZ's failure to offer a .38 Super or a 10mm. I have been annoyed at EAA's failure to offer smooth hardwood grips, but now I keep seeing the word "Hakan's" - gonna have to look into this...

Accuracy? 4" at 25yrds off hand and 1.5" at 25 yrds sandbagged.
Reliability? will feed Hornady 180XTP FMJ's all day long no stovepipes or FTF's, SWC's were another story but after slight chamfering and some major polishing 100% succes!
Haven't killed anything but paper targets and I do not quite feel proficient enough yet for competition , but that will change this coming spring, still bitterly cold here in Wyoming!
CCW? Yes, every day, about 12 to 14hrs a day, as of now I wear it in a Uncle Mike's Horizontal shoulder holster. But I will soon make my own fitted for me, the way I like 'em!
Comments? These pistols seem to take quite a bit of "out of the box" tuning, I wouldn't have it any other way, I have enjoyed all the hours of polishing and tweaking! I am closer to this pistol (emotionally) and trust it farther than even some revolvers I own.
I will add I have yet to figure out the secret to bettering the Double action pull it is about 12 lbs. but I have the single action at 4 lbs. very sweet pull, no grittiness whatsoever.

None of these pistols has ever had a cycling failure, and none has any modification.
One reason I keep collecting these guns is because I'm trying to find one that doesn't measure up to the CZ standard of reliable accuracy at reasonable price and, so far, I've failed. 3 CZs (9mm 75, .40 S&W 75, 97), 5 Witnesses, 2 Jerichos, the TZ, the P9, and the AT all make me expect high quality at reasonable price from the Baby Eagle I'm picking up tomorrow.

Outstanding pistol, approx 25,000 rounds through it and aside from normal consumable parts the frame cracked at around 18000 on the left side of the dust cover by the forward portion of the frame rail. JB weld seems to have the situation under control for now. It should be noted that the rounds in use at the time were loaded to meet the old power factor of 175 so this kind of lifespan is impressive. Those rounds were way outside SAAMI specs and anything an ordinary 9mm P9 was ever designed to shoot. When it does finally go I doubt I'll find another like it.

I also have a Wonder finish Full Size 45acp. This gun is a breeze to shoot. Accurate and reliable. I am able to place all 10 rounds with in the 9 ring at 25 yards. Most rounds land in the 10 or X ring. This gun is to big for most carry for me but it is on my short list of "go to" guns.
I sell a heck of a lot of the Witness line at gun shows. We normaly sell out in fact. It's great to hear grown men yell to thier buddys across the show "HEY I FOUND ONE!!!!!!"

It has been 100% reliable in more than 5K rds. of both ball and JHP ammo in a wide assortment of makes, both surplus and commercial. I have had exactly one failure to fire: a "dead" primer in an old surplus lot. It has never failed to feed or extract.
It shoots precisely to my POA at 25 M with 115 gr. ball OTB, and only about 2" high with 124 gr. NATO ball. Nearly all standard pressure commercial JHPs in the same weight ranges that I've yet tried correspond so closely that no correction has been necessary, for all practical purposes.
I would very much like to try it in a Ransom rest sometime. If I can shoot sub-3" ten shot groups from a bench and bags at the 25 yd. line with my aging, bifocal-clad eyes, I'd bet that the gun is capable of a not-inconsiderable bit more. I've done this on several occasions with WW 115 gr. Silvertips, Federal 124 gr. Hydra-Shoks, and Federal "Match" 124 gr. ball. Almost everything else will fall into a 4-5" average most days which
is about par for me, given the dodgey eyes and inconsistent technique I'm prone to, with most service-grade handguns.

Accuracy is about 4" at 25yds one handed or two. Never shot it off a rest to see how accurate it really is, maybe I'll do that this weekend.
When I first got it the only thing it wouldn't feed reliably was LSWC ammo. It would skive the shoulder off the top-side of the bullet when chambering. Polishing the feed ramp and radiusing the edge on the barrel chamfer fixed that.
I've never shot in any competitions, but I've killed a lot of rabid, man-eating paper targets with it.
Thankfully I've never had to use it defensively, but I keep it loaded with Cor-Bon flying ashtrays when not at the range.
If anyone is wondering about the longevity of the pistols, I can tell you that after 12 years the only wear on mine is a little polishing (very little) on the rails and barrel support. These frames are tough!
Went out to the range today for the first time this year. Shooting from a rest at 25yds.--6" group strung vertically to the right of center "What the...?!!". Moved the target in to 15yds. and left nothing but daylight where the 9-ring of a 100yd smallbore rifle target used to be with some flyers in the six and seven ring. Whew! At least I know the problem is me.
Another hundred rounds to knock the rust off my trigger finger and back out to 25yds. 10 rounds 3.5" just to the right of center from a rest. That's more like it!

Slide to frame fit is amazing, no wiggle at all, and it feels smooth as glass. I have a friend who is a Sig fanatic, and he is very impressed with it, and wants to buy one too, in 9mm.
Basically it's been perfect. It's had about 500 rounds through it, with no FTF's at all. I am very happy with this pistol, and probably won't be selling it to get a CZ97b, as I originally thought I would be doing.

Cons:
Only found one source for 9mm chrome mags with the alum basepad (like the ONE mag that comes with the gun) and they are $60. I can purchased the blued mags for $20 and the alum basepad for $5 so I haven't justified the cost of the chrome mags although I suppose I will end up getting a couple of them.

I like pulling this out at the range when everyone else is shooting their 9mm or 40S&W (although I'm a big fan of those rounds too). I like the grip and feel of the Witness compared to the myriad of other guns that I own; it is one of the most comfortable of all my handguns both to grip and to fire.

Very well actually! I have shot a .45 Witness for Limited 10 Major in USPSA/IPSC sanctioned matches.
Also, USPSA World Champion Eric Grauffel, uses a Tanfoglio Gold Team style Pistol in .38 Super,

Feeding problems: I have one mag that doesn't like to feed the last round in the mag on the non-ported .45. Not the gun's fault.
They're both used for home defense, and I occasionally carry one (when I'm not toting the FN 5.7mm.)
I had one of these in the '90s and got rid of it for money. My friend still owns it; no troubles with it. I used to talk it up all the time, and finally decided to buy another two or three years ago. The new .45 has not failed to perform as expected. I bought the ported one on a whim, because I saw it in a gun shop and actually had some money to blow. I'm selling that one to a friend this week to fund my new CZ-85B (dual tone.)
I'm doing some part time work at my local gun store while finishing my grad work. I've been talking them up so well the shop's had to start stocking the Witness.

I bought the .45 witness specifically to be a CCW defensive pistol. It holds more rounds than the AMT government model I used to own, and the grip and trigger feel much better than a .45 block, I mean, glock.

She qualified well with the Sig .40 S&W on the range but I let her down. We didn't practice timed fire enough and she was left with 3 rounds in the mag at the end of that segment.
I'm pretty proud of her for even wanting to do well and then REALLY doing well. The range master was quite surprised a young woman was that proficient and comfortable with a handgun.
She's thinking of buying her own handgun now. I think a Witness compact in .40 S&W would serve her well.

Accuracy is fantastic; I regularly outshoot my buddy's boutique Kimber (but not another friend's Yost-Bonitz modified Springfield.) I can squeeze out (on a good day) a 3" group at 25 yards unsupported and standing. At realistic self-defense ranges of up to 10yrds, a double tap will got exactly where you want it to go. Workmanship on the weapon is tops -- this isn't a Llama or a Star. Ergonomics on the grip are better, in my opinion, than anything else on the market. I like my so well, I decided to pass on the new Bren and send $250 for a 10mm conversion kit for the .45.

We originally bought this pistol because of the feel, features, and price. It was my first long-term exposure to a CZ tpye pistol. Since then, I have sold most of my non-CZ pistols and will be buying another CZ on Monday. The clones are very nice, but the real thing is better.

EAA Witness PS, purchased used for $200.00. Previous owner stated 4-500 rds and didn't care for it.
-Very accurate
-DA very difficult/SA very easy
-Ejection issues after 500 rds that I ran through it. Solved by cleaning and maintenance to ejector. Trouble free since, another 7-800 rds.
-2 years of dry firing solved most of DA difficulties/SA is now almost too light with frequent double taps, unwantingly
-Everyone that shoots it loves it and frequently will knock down 9" plates at 25yds, first time shooter yesterday - 6 plates 6 shots
-The only gun that I take to the range everytime I go

Superb. Best shooting handgun I've ever owned. Silver dollar sized groups at 25 yards is not difficult to achieve, even with cheap ammo. I enjoy beating a 1911-carrying friend at various friendly contests, like seeing who can shoot softballs off a fence post quicker at varying distances and so on.

Excellent. I've tested various hollowpoints from Hornady, Federal, Winchester, and Hornady. All fed reliably. It seemed to like the Winchester the best so I now carry PDX1 230-gr. in it. Steel and aluminum cased ammo also feeds and cycles reliably in it, which is a first for me.

No competitions or game taken with this gun yet, however I did out-shoot an instructor at a local indoor range in a friendly slow-fire shootout. He was only shooting a Glock 17, but hey, but he started it! ;D

I now carry this frequently because I'm such a fan, despite its size. It is far too big for me to conceal, but after finding the perfect holster for it (a Blackhawk leather 3-slot thumb-break for the Springfield XDM, made in Italy ;D) it is very comfortable to carry. I have a Kahr CW-9 for concealed carry anyways.

I've been shooting a long time, and own a lot of guns. Over the years nearly 100 firearms have passed through my collection. That collection currently features such names as Freedom Arms, Dan Wesson, and Sig.
The Witness Match is one of the finest handguns I have ever had the pleasure to shoot, especially for the price. I've only had mine a couple of weeks but I have put several hundred rounds through it already. I had a couple of instances of the last round not feeding out of the mag, but I'm chalking that up to break in.
I had a Sig Elite Stainless 9mm on order for several months and they could never get around to building my gun for me. I gave up and canceled the order, thinking I'd just hold off on a 9mm target gun for a while. Then the Match crossed my radar and the rest is history. Yes, I'm comparing a $500 gun to a $1200 one, and in this case, it's a valid comparison (IMO, of course).

It fired every bullet, regardless of what it was, and not even a FTF. One of the most accurate guns I ever owned and I plan to buy another this week. I currently carry my CZ 75 B .40 and this gun is just as nice and accurate, but I love the .45. I would own a CZ in .45 but the grip seems to be too big for my hand, unlike the .45 Witness. Much better design.

I just ordered a .45 this afternoon. Never should have sold the last one, because the new ones all have the flashlight holder. I have zero use for a flashlight on my pistol. Wish they offered options, but I'll live with it.
I know how you feel. I'm not particularly fond of Rails either. However, Witnesses are now also again available in Matte Blued Finish, without the Rail and have been for the last year.

Back then Missouri required you to get a purchase permit from the local sheriff's office, which took about ten days. I was a badge guy back then, so I was back in 30 minutes with my permit, which got his attention pretty quick. I could tell he wanted to ask who I was, or who I worked for, but I just smiled and headed for the range. All you could get back then (when you could find ANY 40S&W ammo) was the Winchester 180-grain load, and I bought all they had, 250 rounds.
I got the gun hot and kept it that way until all the ammo was gone. After the first fifty rounds any roughness in the feed cycle had smoothed out, and I was hitting 4-6 inch rocks with boring regularity at 40 yards or better. I decided I liked it, picked up my brass, then bought dies and bullets on the way home.
Twenty years and something over 45,000 rounds later, I still have it, still shoot it frequently, and still carry it off duty now and then. My youngest son wasn't even a twinkle when I got it, he started shooting it when he was three, and still believes that it's his gun. The trigger was a bit mushy when I got it, still is, but it's consistent and easily learned. The only time I have feed or function issues is when I run junky ammo through it, and I use it as a clearinghouse for old handloads with unknown histories. I'm surprised there's any rifling left in it, I've shot very little lead through it.
It has served many roles in two decades. Several years back I developed a bowling-pin-blasting addiction, and worked up a scorching 200-grain load that hammered pins as hard as any 45ACP. It has also served as a Home Defense gun, CCW pistol, test-bed for unsanctioned +P loads, and casual plinker for the kids. When my baby boy turns 21 in a couple years it really will become his, and I'll replace it with whatever CZ-pattern gun strikes my fancy. Who knows, I might just get another one of these.....in stainless. :)

JWC007...thanks for the info. I'm working part time at a gun shop, but no flat black, minus gun rail Witnesses are showing up on the EAA Website or through our any of our distributors. I'll keep my eye out for the ones you stated and if I find one, I will buy that, too.

The Match guns without that ugly "sawtooth-looking" rail, are discontinued, but the fine young lady at EAA gave me some master wholesalers to call. RSR still has the "two tone" guns in stock, without the rail.

The second gun was apparently the first Witness Match gun EVER imported into the U-S, it was sent to the American Sales Manager so he could send it to all the gun magazines, and he specified that it be as cosmetically perfect as possible for all the photos to be taken of it. It's a bit less perfect now, but it's seen several thousand rounds of warm 45 ammo since I got it. This gun shoots groups that make me stand in awe, especially when I'm the one pulling the delightfully sweet trigger. (It has the originally-called-for polygonal rifling, long since discontinued, or so I hear.) It's been passed around at the range a lot, shot by a few dozen people, and at least one liked it enough to go out and buy his own. It took him awhile to hunt it down, but his is the one with the light rail out front. I like mine the way it is, so we're both happy.

The last of my three Witnesses is the oldest, an early small-frame model, bought new in 1990, the first CZ-pattern gun I ever saw that wasn't a 9mm. It's seen upwards of 45,000 rounds, NONE of them mild, nearly all jacketed, and I'm kind of surprised by the amount of rifling left in the barrel. I worked up a load for bowling pin shooting that sent a 200-grain bullet out at an honest 1050 fps, and the gun never once whimpered. It still gets carried a lot off-duty, the 40 is no slouch defensively with good bullets and I have TONS of ammo loaded for it, so I still get a lot of practice in with it.

EAA Witness P Carry
Accuracy:
Very accurate out of the box.
Feeding:
Chambering a round was actually kinda difficult at first. I could see the round at the top of the clip ready to be seated into the barrel, but I had to rack the slide several times to get it to actually go in properly. Since it has gotten slightly easier, but there is still a bit of delay. Maybe I just have to "break it in" first? That said, once the ammo seats properly, it has no feeding problems whatsoever.
Matches:
None. Just personal target practice. I could easily see someone ranking with this gun, however.
Defense:
A tad heavy, so a smaller person might have a hard time with CC, but average Joe would be okay. Perfect for home defense.
Other comments:
Other than the annoying (hopefully temporary) loading issue, I actually prefer this gun to my father's Sig. The weight on this thing is perfect.

Good accuracy IMO 3-4in groupungs @ 25 I'm not a great shooter by any means, minimal time to get to the range. Think its me not the TA

I took it to the range for a trial and could not be happier. It is so accurate that I literally shot the bulls-eye out of the target with a group of 1.5 inches for 18 rounds. I am a 1911 lover, but I'm having an affair with this Witness.

yesterday I went through 100 rounds and had 1 left over so I loaded it and put it through the center of the bullseye at 15 yards. I can't do it every time but I usually don't have much of a target left in the center after a full mag.
The gun is spectacular out to fifty yards and after that it's hard to judge between me and the gun. But I can get about half on paper at 100 yards bench rest.
I find that my witness makes me a perfectionist because I expect more out of it than any other gun. It s like a two inch group at 15 yards isn't good enough because I know the gun can do better if I would get out of its way
It goes with me everywhere except work or if deep concealment is needed my 82 goes

I have an EAA Tanfoglio 10mm Full Size. I went into the LGS to look at the Glock 20SF. (I am not a Glock fan. Not because of reliability, but, as my brother says, "Glocks are great as long as you like vanilla.") I could not bring myself to buy the Glock. Walking out I noticed the EAA. Asked the guy to let me hold it and give it a feel. 15 minutes later I walked out with a new EAA.
Accuracy - Absolutely amazing. Everyone who shoots it comments how awesome it feels and shoots.

CZ 75BD
1. The most accurate gun I've ever owned, possibly the most accurate gun I've ever shot. Out of the box, the sights were dead-on.
2. Hollow points- never an issue. Only ammo to FTF or FTE was UMC. Never shot SWC.
3. N/A
4. Currently MY go to gun, next to the bed. Soon to be my girlfriends, too, now that she's shot it more than the PA-63 which resides in her nightstand.
5. I will NEVER EVER EVER sell this pistol. It's the best $335 I've ever spent.
Steel Witness .45 Full-Size
1. Excellent accuracy. Shoots dead flat, but a bit to the left out of the box. VERY tight groups, though. Never felt the need to adjust the sights, but I suppose I will some day.
2. N/A
3. N/A
4. Never needed it for that, but wouldn't hesitate after qualifying some HP's for the job.
5. Quite a nice gun. I think if I were to do it again, I'd get one in Wonderfinish as the parkerizing or whatever the finish is isn't the best. Held up so far, but not too pretty. Came in the .22/ .45 combo. Sold the .22 kit as it didn't do what I wanted it to do (shoot any kind of plinking ammo available for dirt cheap). Accurate, though.
Looking to pick up another Witness 9mm (compact) or a PCR very soon. I like the safety on the Witness better than on the 75B's as it can be used in DA mode. Leaning towards the PCR, though, as it's lighter and I have no problems with using a decocker over cocked and locked. PCR feels more comfy in the hand, too. I do't like the magazine being part of my grip as on the Witness compact.

The 22mags required a bit of sanding but now I can practice bill drills without hiccups. If the slide stayed open on empty, the 22 would be a dream combo.
Mostly use the 9mm and have never had any issues.
Called Eaa a couple of times to ask about part mode and fitting, always friendly and knowledgeable responses.
Wish I could get my hands on a Stock 3 but maybe I'll just get another Match and turn it into DA.
Many guys who shoot against me with "open" gun$ have started looking for a Match as well.
Best dark horse on the market. If the grip was a hair thinner it would be a dream gun.

I picked up one of Cole's TZ75 Series 88's last year....the one with the wonder finish with Mossad on the slide. It has some pretty crappy sights, but has a smoother trigger than my Sig P226.... both single and double action. It is also a tack driver. After picking this one up, I decided to spring for a Jericho 941. It has a weird double action pull, but not bad, just weird. Single action is as good as my pre-B CZ85, but again with crappy sights. Yes, it too is a tack driver.
If I was shooting for $$$ I would be pulling the trigger on the old Mossad Tang over a safe full of high end pistols. I wish that wasn't the truth, but such is life.

1.) Had some issues with it right away. The barrel lock-up was loose and groups were in the 6" range from a rest at 25' which didn't impress me much. I dimpled the slide in a couple areas around the barrel to tighten it up. It shoots a lot better but now its a little too tight. Haven't had a chance to mess with it since I had it out last.
I hated the factory sights and went with a fiber Dawson front. I Love the trigger!
2.) 2 FTF with FMJ last trip out but I know its from me over tightening the barrel.
3.) N/A right now but I plan to use it in a shoot that's coming up next month.

5.) The factory grips were awful so I was forced to manufacture a replacement O0
EAA Stock 45 ACP (new)
Just picked it up and have only had it out once. 100% reliability and seemed very accurate. I was shooting various steel targets and it was very windy so I didn't test the accuracy. <-- next time!
Love the look of the factory wood grips but I'm still making Lava Grips for it.

Seems every bit as accurate as my more accurate polymer guns but I shoot steel most of the time. Fit and finish is very good.
Ill have to get some paper targets and document some accuracy tests from all of my pistols. I don't reload 9mm though so all of the tests would be from white box. I'm not sure anyone would care to see that.
CZ 75 Shadow Target (Just ordered)
They charged me then notified me 5 days later that it was on backorder. So I'm waiting... who knows how long for that one. Very excited to test it out though.

Accurate enough for defensive purposes. It's consistent so any issues with accuracy can be addressed by minor adjustments in my approach.

Used aluminum and brass FMJ, and hollow points of various manufacture. No issues at all. Most were 230 gr.

No competition and do not hunt.

Primary purpose is as a CCW weapon. At this point just waiting on new grips, holster, and dual mag carrier.

I mostly have 1911's so carry will be cocked and locked. Controls are familiar so that's important. Also have a SAR B6P which is like the polymer Witness. Like the capacity of the 9mm.

1. First time out and I think I did pretty good for a new guy. The gun seems to be more accurate than I am. Hopefully that changes the more I shoot it.
2. Put 250 rounds of 45 through it within an hour. Not one single FTF or FTE. Used federal bulk, armscor and blazer. The 22 conversion had one misfeed. But I only put 20 rounds through.
3. I won't be shooting target matches with this gun.
4. The gun will be primarily self defense. Ccw is not allowed in NJ.
5. The gun fits my hand perfectly. I have larger hands and the grips are perfect.
The attached image was the third set of mags I shot. Only 6 yards but I hit much better than expected.

1st Range Trip for two clones, as well as two smaller carry guns, and I am happy to say after 300 combined rounds of 9mm and about 30 rounds of .22, not a single misfire, misfeed, etc from any of the four Canik Stingray (safe queen and range king), Witness P 9/22 Combo (for the SHTF kit), Ruger LC9s (daily carry) and SCCY CPX2 (car gun).
I shot the CPX first as I had one before and knew it was the longest springiest trigger, then my new daily carry the LC9s and its striker fired trigger was soooo much better.
But then, I picked up the Canik and fired the first shot, boy what a smooth shooter and the sights fall right back on the target so nicely because of the weight of being all steel. So smooth, the trigger wasn't even a thought, just bang bang bang every time the sights came back to the target. I could feel the difference in accuracy and when I didn't have to pull the target back to see the rather large keyhole developing around the bull! Marvelous range gun, too heavy to carry without a pistol belt but a marvelous gun, smooth, accurate, dependable. Fired it with both Winchester White Box 115 FMJ and Federal Classic JHP in 9mm. Love it.
Then it was the Witness' turn, deadly accurate just like its cousin the Stingray given they both use the same CZ inspired design. Not quite as heavy given that its polymer, although I had the 19 round mag in it at the time. Again it was smooth enough the trigger wasn't even a thought, SA was beautiful on both, as was accuracy because that keyhold in the middle kept getting bigger and I was firing as rapidly as the sights came back on target with all four guns. Again no issues with either White Box of JHPs and these were all out of the box guns, with nothing but a simple break down, wipe off, boresnake and lube on the rails. Then I switched slides to the 22 conversion, fired off 3 mags of 10 rounds of value pack Federal 40g without a hitch, so then I thought what the heck and tried 10 rounds of subsonic and again, went pop instead of bang, ten times in a row.
I tell people the Canik Stingray is the nicest gun you've never heard of and I mean it. The utility of the 9/22 and low cost ($360) will keep the Witness P Combo in my bugout vest too!

Using both hollow point defense ammo and FMJ practice stuff I am hitting 1.5" targets reliably with both at 25 yards.
Would probably be much better with a sand bag or something

Was using this to adjust sights....hence some high, some lower, but still grouping.
Not earth shattering yet, but this is my first semi auto that wasn't a .22 LOL!

I never owned a CZ or a clone before I bought a EAA Witness Compact Semi Auto Pistol .40 S&W 3.6" Barrel 12 Rounds Rubber Grip Steel Wonder Finish 999098 2015 and had a problem with it out of the box, The recoil springs (inner coil and outer coil springs) The slide was so strong I couldn't get it back far enough for the slide lock to engage. I called about the springs and the warrenty and was told to send the pistol in pay for the shipping and enclose a 20 dollar check for return shipping, and they would "look at it" I was a gunsmith for 30 years and am now retired and I didn't renew my FFL, sorry, but that isn't what I call a warrenty. I polished the Slide rails with a hard Arkansas stone ,just a few strokes, and the top od the hammer. The slide works fine without the two springs but completely collapsed there is no way the slide would go back far enough to lock or chamber a cartridge. I ended up removing the inner coil spring and cut off 3 coils from the factory outer spring in order to get the slide 1//8 of an inch behint the slide lock and ordered a calibration spring set from Wolff.
Has anyone else had that same problem and what did they do to correct the problem?

I carry this one every day, with 9mm flat points and small cavity hollow points (alternating), 147gr only. I have carried Sigs, Glocks, CZs, and more. While I don't consider this a battlefield pistol, it is a wonderful CCW pistol for me. I will not do the conversion for someone else as it is much too time consuming.

Addendum: This one is old enough to not have a firing pin block. I also polished the feed ramp, lightly chamfered the outside edges of the chamber, and generally smoothed up the action surfaces inside the gun. Not a mirror polish but knocked off the rough edges. The trigger is adjustable for overtravel and creep. I have both set a little loose so there is a slight noticeable creep in the trigger and it overtravels just a little to make sure of the reset. It's a carry gun and not a target pistol.

Correction: I have a correction to make regarding my Witness Compact carry description. This compact with S/N AE17**** did come from the factory with a firing pin block. I did remove the FPB. Not trying to start an argument. I just like simple and understand that things can malfunction. I have a full size Tanfoglio Mossad in 9mm that does not have a FPB from the factory and it is my full size carry when needed. Thanks for reading.

2) Upload your Pics to your Pic Host Gallery
3) Copy ( keyboard - Ctrl+c ) the Forum Pic Link you get from Your host
4) Paste ( keyboard - Ctrl+v ) the Forum Pic Link into Your post
5) Click on "Save" when done editing
Of course the trick with Photobucket is to just click the "IMG" code, which automatically copies the pic link to your Computer, and all you have to do is Paste ( keyboard Ctrl + v ) into your post.

I then installed the Hennings basic upgrade kit (firing pin/spring, guide rod, 18# recoil spring, and reduced power trigger plunger spring and hammer spring). Success! The gun exhibited perfect function even with low powered ammo (like HSM 1150FPS 200 grain FMJ) and 100% ignition with the kit installed. However, the improvements really draw attention to the side-to-side slop in the factory trigger that is truly unbecoming of an otherwise entry level "Match" pistol.
Note: the factory trigger return (torsion) spring was not upgraded and does not appear to be offered by Hennings Shop. I ordered the 25% reduced power CZ75 trigger return spring offered by Cajun Gun Works. Hopefully this is a high reliability replacement part with a slight reduction in trigger pull should I keep the factory trigger. I also ordered Cajun's CZ75 floating trigger pin and slave pin, although I'm not certain it will work at least without fitting. If anyone has experience with "drop in" adjustable CZ75 triggers (or even just something that presents less slop) that work in a Witness Match, please let me know and thanks in advance!

#3 - Lack of holsters, general aftermarket accessories, but this has actually gotten better the last couple of years with the Canik/Tristar clones becoming so popular & the re-intro of the gun by IWI.
#2 - The initial reach to the trigger, when de-cocked, is a tad long for me.
and #1 - The decocker on the slide rather than on the frame. This is a big issue and is the one that makes me think about getting rid of it. If you want to rack the slide when reloading, it can rip your hand big time if you're not extremely deliberate and it just hurts, even when you are deliberate. It's not the end of the world, but it's annoying enough to make me think about parting ways. The only thing stopping me is that it's such a good shooter.

I replaced the Trigger Return Spring with one Reduced Power from CGW. It works well. I'm keeping it in !! I highly recommend it.

It is as accurate as any of my CZs, Sigs or any other brand except for my RIA 1911 9mm.
It is easy to shoot well.
Eats everything I feed it.
Very good pistol and only cost $320 OTD at the local Rural King.

If you have gotten good service from your Tanfoglio or other clones of the CZ designed pistols, time to stand up and be counted. I want to hear about:
1.) Accuracy
2.) Feeding Reliability with hollowpoints or semi-wadcutters
3.) Target Matches you placed well in or game you have killed
4.) Use as home defensive arm or CCW
5.) Any other comments you may have
I tell people the Canik Stingray is the nicest gun you've never heard of and I mean it. The utility of the 9/22 and low cost ($360) will keep the Witness P Combo in my bugout vest too!
Couldn't find one when I was looking. Picked up a 45 steel Witness Compact , no complaints.

Picke this up a few days ago myself, Magazine was kind jinky. Got a new spring for it & a newer Mec-gar mag. Hopefully that helps with the failures to feed issues. Cannot wait to get back on the range to shoot this again. Such a real smooth shooting pistol.

Picked this up a few days ago. Had only one Mag, which was having FTF issues. I got a new Mec-Gar mag & a new spring for the original mag that came with it. I cannot wait to get back to the range. This is a real smooth shooter, when I wasn't having issues.

At this point I have the two Tanfoglio "Mossad" guns, a fullsized and a compact. The FS is my favorite gun of all I own, even more than my $1000+ Sig P226 SSE, another one is my "Combat Cohai" two tone fullsized. Great shooter, and almost as accurate as the "Mossad" FS above is. I have two Jericho 941's, a just bought Israeli surplus one in chrome, and a black one that is almost new. It has a rail, the surplus one doesn't. I like them both about equally, but wouldn't mind if the older one was converted back to DA/SA.
I've had 2 9mm Witnesses, one with a rail, one older one without, and a .45 without a rail. I had a .40 with a rail for a short time, but got an offer on it almost as soon as I picked it up for more than I paid for it, so off it went without me even shooting it.

Recently got a SAR K2 and even better accuracy for less money plus higher capacity.
A Witness will serve you well, but the SAR is better.

10mm Full Size 10 round capacity, Wonder Finish, Hogue finger grooved grips, 22lb recoil and firing pin spring, 16lb hammer spring.traveling
Accuracy? 4" at 25yrds off hand and 1.5" at 25 yrds sandbagged.
Reliability? will feed Hornady 180XTP FMJ's all day long no stovepipes or FTF's, SWC's were another story but after slight chamfering and some major polishing 100% succes!
Haven't killed anything but paper targets and I do not quite feel proficient enough yet for competition , but that will change this coming spring, still bitterly cold here in Wyoming!
CCW? Yes, every day, about 12 to 14hrs a day, as of now I wear it in a Uncle Mike's Horizontal shoulder holster. But I will soon make my own fitted for me, the way I like 'em!
Comments? These pistols seem to take quite a bit of "out of the box" tuning, I wouldn't have it any other way, I have enjoyed all the hours of polishing and tweaking! I am closer to this pistol (emotionally) and trust it farther than even some revolvers I own.
I will add I have yet to figure out the secret to bettering the Double action pull it is about 12 lbs. but I have the single action at 4 lbs. very sweet pull, no grittiness whatsoever.
Check out Mcarbo. Their spring kit reduces both SA/DA. Cut it in half actually.

Never a jam or malfunctions. When I bought them, the Speer 200 grain "Flying Ashtray" bullet was still in production.
I carried the Cor Bon 200 grain Flying Ashtray load. I miss that load. It was a beast.
TZ75 Custom 90. Got it preowned but unused for cheap. As accurate as any DA/SA autoloader I've owned or shot.
No jams or malfunctions. It's also on the "never sell" list.
No competition or hunting use with either.
They've been carried but, thank God, I've never had to shoot anyone.
Sure they would work well if need be. Let's hope it never comes to that.
I need to get thin grips for all three.
Even though I don't shoot them much, I don't see them going anywhere, unless some offers me stupid money for them.

2.) Feeding reliability with hollow points and found that for me the hollow point bullet that preformed absolutely flawlessly was the SIG V Crown 200gr and 230 gr JHP ammo.
3.) Target practice only at the range, no matches.

This is quite an old thread. But I'll add to it. I own a Tanfoglio Witness full-size, small-frame. I bought it years ago for 299.00--a steal of a deal brand new. I have found it nearly impossible to find new grips for it so I have settled for some that fit but leave part of the magazine visible near the top of the grip--no big deal. The gun is the best shooting pistol I've ever owned, and I even prefer it to a SIG P210 I once owned.

2. I have put every type of ammo through it without any problems
3. I have no desire to compete with it
4. It is used for home defense

Agreed, all my clones, both steel and polymer frame, eat everything I feed them. The only few failures I’ve had were due to worn springs or magazine issues.

The same day I found a pair of NOS factory magazines for it.
What an awesome gun!!! Great shooter, nicely sized.
