Title: Carbine handguard & HK 3-lug adapter
Post by: Box on October 28, 2016, 07:49:37 PM
I'm thinking of putting the CZ carbine handguard on my scorpion pistol.     I have an HK 3-lug adapter for my suppressor.  My question is, can you use the 3-lug adapter with the carbine handguard and still be able to remove the suppressor?

My suppressor will barely extend beyond the carbine handguard, so I'm wondering if it will be impossible to manipulate the adapter to remove the suppressor while it's housed in the handguard.

You can always remove it. Even if you have to use needle nose pliers. Only you can determine how easy/hard it is. Have you seen MAC's newest video on the Scorpion? He's able to get his out.

MAC isn't using a 3-lug, though.    If it's possible but an ordeal to remove the suppressor while it's housed in the carbine handguard, I'll pass on getting the handguard.

A 3-lug adaptor should make it stick out a little further than MAC's, so I'd love to hear feedback.   I'm sure there are people here who have the handguard AND the 3-lug with a similar length suppressor as MAC is using.

The problem with the three lug adaptor is that the OD (outside diameter) of the lugs is greater than the ID (inside diameter) of the barrel nut. Thus you have to put the barrel nut on first (inside the handguard obviously) then figure out a way to get the three lug adaptor down into the handguard and torqued onto the barrel.

If you by the HB Industries handgaurd there is no more barrel nut. The barrel is free floated . Handgaurd is secured towards the front of the barrel.

Yep, and that's what I'm planning on doing. The OP however talked about putting the carbine handguard on a pistol length barrel. Just ensuring he was aware of the potential pitfall.

the OPs idea was something I was considering doing once my suppressor gets out of NFA jail.  working on an idea for a wrench/socket that would let you put the 3 lug on after the fact.  if I can get something to work I might produce a few, dependent upon my limited free time.

Let me know how this goes, I might be interested in a socket. I've tried searching but so far I can't find where anyone makes such a thing.

will do.  also working on some barrel nut wrenches that wouldn't cost your first born.  again all limited by my time available.  full time job and 2 little critters kills my free time to work on stuff....
