Title: Cz453 varmint 17 Hmr non-fluted?
Post by: BRT728 on December 05, 2016, 07:37:26 PM
About a month ago I purchased a cz453 varmint in 17hmr at my local gun shop. I noticed it also doesn't have a fluted barrel and the stamp date says 06. I was just wondering if this gun is uncommon with the non fluted barrel and being a 17hmr in the 453 model. I can't seem to find another one like it when doing research .

I don't know the answer to your question, but if no one responds here, you might try posting it on the CZ/BRNO subforum at Rimfire central forum. There's a lot more traffic there than here, would bet you'd find someone who knew.

CZ made the 453 Varmint in 22lr, 17HMR, and 17HMR with a fluted barrel.

You can find the listing on the CZ-USA website under discontinued models.

I saw they had it with the fluted, I just never saw one non-fluted in the 453 maybe because it's a early model?

The 453 was a fairly short run.

I don't think there are a lot of them anywhere.

It is a very sought after model in any configuration because of the set trigger.

Reading this post, I was unfamiliar with barrel fluting, so I went looking for definitive information on the subject.

This is what I found:  http://www.snipercountry.com/articles/realbenefitsbarrelfluting.asp
