Title: Frame mounted red dot sight mount
Post by: Mike - on December 12, 2016, 01:38:15 PM
I recently bought a P-01 and want to put a red dot sight on it.

Looking to see if anyone has used the frame mounted, (as sold by CZ Custom) Red Dot mount and how they liked it.

Mike

There are quite a few manufacturers out there that have the mount which slides on by using the light rail on the frame. Is this what you're talking about?

srRex -

Interesting...

No, as noted in my post, I'm wondering about the one that actually bolts (drill and tap into the frame) to the left side of the frame sold by the "CZ Custom" guys.
It's solidly bolted to the left side of the frame.

But...I like the ones you've shown also.
Thanks.

Wow thanks for sharing the pic. How much weight does it add to the gun? Also what sights were you using previously and how does it compare? Looking forward to see range results!

Matty, this is a non-perm attach method for red dots. I believe they all weigh a negligible amount since made in aluminum, but I'd say is very popular among some of the guys I shoot with regularly on other model pistols. I don't personally have this on any of my CZ pistols, but i have used them on many glocks and a few other poly framed guns. I don't see why they would be any different on a CZ. Some of them even come with a special holster that will accept the mount while it's on the gun. Pretty cool.  But not my method.

I purchased the multi optic mount and used a leupold deltapoint pro. I got the drill and tap kit as well which helped a lot. I didnt do my P-01 but i did do my SP-01 and tactical sport.

The balance is better on the SP-01 but I keep the optic on the tac sport. The mount may look funny on a P-01, but i day go for it.

Thanks Dreith -

I've tried calling the guys in AZ and so far have gotten nowhere.
I did order one each of NeuMounts and the Fab Defense mounts.  The NeuMount is shorter (mount surface) than the one shown above.  Still waiting for the Fab mount, the NeuMOunt should be here just after Christmas.  So far very nice people.
I'd still like to get the CZ Custom bolt on, but as I've said...so far no contact.  Will try again.

I have both a Leupold Pro and the Burris Fast Fire III to try.

What are going to use the gun for?  The mounts you are talking about are for the Czechmate.
you would be better off with some thing like this.

Yea, ultimately machining the slide is the best way to go.

NOTE: The "UM Tactical" underslung mount does not work on the P-01 (full length frame).  At least not without some "clearancing" for the bottom corners frame.

Two others still on the way.

It's not a compact but I put a frame mounted C more on my SP-01 Shadow which I like way more than the slide mounted Fastfire I had.

I've ran a few cmores on a ruger mk and on a few ar flat tops. It seems for durability and bang for the buck, that Cmore is hard to beat I even have a grey one too. The colors were attractive for pistol, the aluminum Cmore was more a tactical carbine option. But those guys make a good product. That frame mount, let's see the holes you have to drill in it to mount that.... I am always afraid it'll never look the same again with my personal stuff compared to a customers.

Here's a picture of the side that was drilled, Tooth and Nail armory drilled and tapped the frame. They did a ok job everything seems to be straight but they forgot to cut the screws so the slide would not move when I got it back but it was a easy fix.

That's a nice looking setup. I'd think the screw depth would be the first thing one would check when press fitting... Not everyone uses their caliper when drill baby drill comes into play. Are you going to coat the plate?

I've now got three frame mount, red dot sight mounts.

For what it may be worth, the Neumount (see post #2, second picture) is "very" nice.  Mounts solidly, even without tightening the three screws.  After bore sighting, removing and reinstalling the mount, there's no apparent change in the original point of aim.  The mount surface is very low compared to other frame mounts.  The mounting surface is about .340" over the top of the slide.

The Fab Tech and the UM Tactical are nice, fit well (the UM needs "fitting" to clear the P-01 frame corners, they both raise the sight by roughly 3/4" over the Neumount.  I like the lower mount surface a little better.

The milling or drilling of the slide is a little too permanent for me right now.  I like the fact that I can easily change the sight brand or even remove it if I feel the need.

The Neumount is a very stable mount, worth the money.
