Thinking of getting back into the P01 game. I had one MANy years ago, but finally got frustrated with the gritty DA and sold it. Now, with good instructional vids for detail strip of the decocker out there, and my conversion to DA/SA, I might be ready for a P01. I know the Omega is easier to detail strip and polish, so a smooth DA pull may come easier, but I DO KNOW that if I am able to break a standard trigger in right, it can be SO good (I have a PreB and nonB that are exceptional). What are the real differences in the two systems in this gun? Is it possible to 'ride the decocker' in the Omega in a detrimental way? I also think I like a flatter trigger rather than the radical curvature of the std. Thanks.

I think you've addressed the main differences, the Omega system is an evolutionary step forward compared to the older decocker models. With that being said if your willing to swap parts I would imagine Cajun Gun Works can set you up with a killer trigger no matter the system you choose.

Anyone own and/or shot both? CAN one ride the decocker on the Omega and accidentally decock it? This might be a deal killer.
I know that the Omega system is easier to detail strip and polish for a smooth DA - so that is the advantage. Anyone done this to good effect.
I have no real interest in the CGW kits. CGW is a class act and I know there are TONS of very happy customers. (I have bought part from them - great folks). I am just NOT a fan of changing out all the springs and ending up with higher slide velocity on recoil because of super light recoil springs. More wear on the gun.

Look in the P07/09 section, there are a few threads on cleaning and polishing the Omega trigger.

If you ride the decocker it shouldn't be an issue. There's a lot of movement required in the decocker stroke to actually do the hammer to that notch.
I've worked on both systems. I've completely upgraded my TS, P-01, and P-09. The TS and P-09 are in the same category of complex.
I'd suggest finding the Omega. Better stock sights and hammer, especially if you're opposed to some of the action upgrades. I also like the lesser curve on the trigger. I tend to pull straight back without as much tendency to nosedive.

I have an omega and couldn't be happier. I went that direction as I'm completely satisfied with my P09. I prefer the style of decocker, flatter trigger and sights.

Thanks gents - very good input. Has anyone NOT Cajunized and simply did a complete polish and use 'as is'? If this 'works', it would be another data point.

Where the heck does one find a P-01 Omega?!

No reason it wouldn't 'work'.

That'd be me. I love the Omega trigger just the way it is. The only issue I have is a long-ish SA reset, but that isn't a deal breaker for me at all.
I have never liked a gun as much as I do my P-01 Omega.
