New member and your mods ban me for an entire MONTH for a simple novice rules violation? That was quite a welcome. A day or two might have been a little more appropriate. What a month ban does to a new member is that they are not likely to come back to stay. First time back since my ban ended 12/27/16. Last time back today.

Banned or just "moderated?" Big difference.

Awww. Maybe you should have read the clearly posted rules before trying to sell your stuff.
Well, thanks for letting us know you're leaving.

That is a no no on pretty much any forum....Your going to run into problems like that anywhere.

Geez how about a box of tactical kleenex. :'(

Do those come in a Kydex box?

Carry those Kleenex IWB, OWB, or AIWB?

Dunno. I agree with OP. 1 month ban is a little ridiculous. I've never seen such a severe punishment before. 1 month ban is usually like 4x rules violation on other forums.

Fake news ;D

Yes, no, maybe, look at the name of the sales forum. When posting he sees 25 posts required.

So implement inability to post if you don't have 25 posts. Lots of forums have that. That is the best solution. If managing the classifieds forum is too much for Grendel to manage then it might be time to appoint someone to manage only the classifieds forum. I'm sure lots of people here would be happy to volunteer. It takes like 10 minutes a day. It's not like this forum gets massive traffic that there's a new thread in the forum every minute.
A 1 month ban because they glossed over the rule isn't helpful to anyone. If you look at his posts he had potential to be a helpful member. By acting so irrationally you're effectively just pushing away new members. A short ban like will make it so people don't forget about the site, and they will still remember the repercussion of breaking the rule. 1 month? They'll forget the site even exists. It's a lose-lose scenario.

Perhaps if people would read the sticky posts both in Classifieds and the New Members section, together with reading the actual forum title itself, there would be no need for sanctions. Until that time, the rule remains.

I really don't get what is so hard to implement an automated system of preventing people from posting in the classifieds without 25 posts though. It'd certainly make your life easier Grendel. Just make new members 0-24 posts, users 25+ posts. Only users and up can post in the classifieds. It's extremely simple and takes no more than 5 minutes to do.

Pretty sure you can... it's an incredibly simple implementation that is decades old.
