I purchased a used CZ 97 BD last year. Since then, I've done standard field cleaning and fired less than 250 rounds. I use basic 230gr Blazer Brass ammo. Gun is stock as far as I can tell.
This weekend I had 3x stove pipes over the course of 90ish rounds ... no stove pipes prior to this but a trip to the range might normally be just 50 rounds.
Do I just have a weak grip that's causing this?
I'm very much a noob re guns and skills.
Thank you for any input.

Hard to say without actually being there. Try shooting from a firm rest and see how it performs. If all is well at that point consider getting some instruction and try to practice more often.

Limp wristing can cause a stove pipe as you are not providing a solid foundation for the slide to operate on. New tight recoil spring with a weak grip could make the problem more apparent. Remember to grip pretty hard with your support hand. Some good instructors videos to watch would be Bob Vogel or Micheal Seeklander. Have fun, work hard and enjoy.

could be, but its kind of hard to limp wrist a what 41 ounce pistol??
I would look at the power of the ammo I think, Blazer may not have enough ump to fling those cases out cleanly?
I reload and have no such problems with any of 3-4 different weight projectiles , nose types with my 97 BD and it has around 5-6 K through it now.
try a different brand of ammo and see what happens.
while cleaning have you checked the extractor claw and made sure no old residue is behind it???

With less that 400 rounds total through your 97, I would try to get some more rounds through it to loosen it up, before deciding on a cause. All the suggestions above are very good. If you are so inclined, you might polish the feed ramp, too.

Thanks for the suggestions.

I'm no expert but I think your 97 is broke?
I will send you my address to get rid of it.
This Forum will help you out being so new.
Next time at the Range try and sit at a bench with some Sand Bags and extend your arm. You need a tighter grip but no so tight it stops yore circulation and you turn Purple.
You may want to look on the internet for some tips on how to place both of your hands?
Good Luck

Recoil spring weight mis-matched with ammo power is a common cause. Mag springs and extractor cleanliness are more to check out.
Actually "trying" to limp wrist your CZ is an interesting experience. Be safe, but a two-finger + trigger finger and thumb strong hand grip only with "two cartridges in the mag" is likely to fire smoothly if the recoil spring isn't stronger than needed for your ammo.
My 9mm 75s are almost impossible to limp wrist with tests I've done at the range.
