Recently purchase a 452 training rifle and so far the iron sights have been great however due to my aging eyes, I am limited to about 50 yard of accurate shooting.Any suggestions for an affordable scope and ring set up?

Define affordable.

No more than 200 for the complete setup.

Vortex rimfire 2-7x32. Burris sig zee rings in medium. J&P adapters. Warne rings are also excellent and the 7.3/22 model eliminates the J&P adapters.
If you shop around you should come in very close to/below that number.
I believe that scope will fit behind the rear sight with adequate eye relief, but everyone is different as to how they mount a rifle, and where their head wants to be..
