My Scorpion is my trunk gun. I like having it there, but I'm also worried it'll get played with by a valet or that it'll be the first thing stolen in case of a break-in.
I'm curious as to how you guys may have mounted or otherwise secured yours in your vehicles. I'm thinking about doing something a bit ambitious, but I figured I'd see if there was a preferred solution first.

Lockbox that locks up against the roof and out of sight.

Having it accessible and secure at the same time is not easy to do. I was looking for an accessible mount for my AR truck gun but security wasn't the biggest priority. When I'm out in my truck, rarely am i out of it and if so not for long and not very far away. Also i live in a relatively rural area and when I'm out, its usually out in the "boonies"!
I went with a mixture of Santa Cruz Gunlocks without the actual handcuff style lock. I used a quick fist mount on the Santa Cruz brackets.
I love how it worked out, very accessible and stable.

Those look like pretty cool options. I'm putting it in my Cadillac ATS, so I don't have quite that much clearance. It lives in the trunk.

Sweet jeep setup

This stuff is really neat. Thank you for the pics guys.

Sigma, is that something you made yourself or bought? That's the solution i have envisioned....that is absolutely awesome.

It's made by a company called Grenadeacorp but I made the foam insert. It usually comes with panel with straps.

The awesome is very strong with that one!

my micro/k fits in the car's locking glove box. I don't think I would leave it there. There was a lot of SUV/Jeep boxes and drawers out there. Tuffy makes several boxes. http://www.tuffyproducts.com/p-256-laptop-computer-security-lockbox.aspx

Sigma are you LEO?
Also can we get more pics of your Guns out of the case?

tuffy makes a drawer for the crown vic - ford panther platform - if you got a $1000 + to spend. I think their lap top box is too thin however. I had an ammo box that would have worked at one time.

Not LEO. CHP permit holder. Normally I only have Scorpion which falls under my permit.

Anyone mount their Scorpion in their car?
Well when I first got her, there was that moment when I looked at my Scorpion and thought..."oh yeah" but then I decided that my car windows weren't tinted and besides, it was felt wrong" ;D
-
something like this in a truck covered with car truck type carpet to hide it. http://www.globalindustrial.com/p/office/computer-furniture/laptop-security/wall-mount-laptop-security-cabinet-3
-
I like that one.
-
I think I'm getting one, chaining it in the trunk with a circular padlock, and use some Velcro to further secure it. Then I'll conceal it with matching trunk carpet from the auto upholstery supply store. I could then take it out of the car into the house or motel, if I wanted. I'll post a picture once I get it together. As they say, if James Bond or Jason Bourne wants to get into your stuff, they will, but for $120. it is probably worth it,

I wonder if that one's big enough for my Scorpion. Mine is a pistol-turned-SBR with a factory stock. So it might be a tight squeeze.

Any reason to believe that one of these won't work?

Some of these AR-specific book-hinged safe thingies have very small openings that will tightly grip the barrel. But this one seems like it'll have enough clearance to allow a Scorpion to fit. Thoughts?
-
It looks like this one might be more adjustable than the last one. I may try one of these: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B073CFMDJF/_encoding=UTF8?coliid=IAI7ZTM13RTSR&colid=32ZRFRSKHMYBR&psc=0

You could look at galls.com they sell a lot of Leo equipment including a verify of vehicle weapon locks.
Another option would be to remove the rear trunk/cargo area carpet and particial board, frame the area with some 2x2, put some foam in, put 2 hinges on the particial to wood frame and reinstall the carpet. Similar to this https://services.edmunds-media.com/image-service/media-ed/ximm/?quality=85&image=/jeep/cherokee/2014/lt/2014_jeep_cherokee_crg_lt_120114_600.jpg
-
Unless I'm missing something, it seems that all their stuff is for shotguns or ARs only, which means that the housings are too small to clamp down on the Scorpion's very tall receiver.
-
You'll probably have to search for an MP5 mount used in LE vehicles. I mounted an AR15 in my Tahoe using a Santa Cruz gun mount for a police car. I believe Santa Cruz makes an mp5 mount. I modified it NOT to use the lock. I used a rubber weapon mount strap from Quick Fist, it works great.

Thanks for the suggestion. Depending on how busy I am over the next few days, I may have something cool to show you guys. I think I found a solution.

I just ran across this today, the rail rack. I don't see any reason it wouldn't work for the pistol or anything with picatinny rails. For the price ($10) its worth a shot.
