I recently found a cz 85 at a local store while ordering a new turkey gun. I couldn't sleep that night and could only lay in bed and kick myself for not grabbing it. I went back the next morning when they opened and made her mine.
While doing the paperwork the clerk noticed the serial and made a comment about it. It has a serial number that is 0021X, Can anyone tell me anything that I don't already know about it?
Does the low serial make a difference? What is a fair price? Just trying to figure out what kinda deal I got. It is my first CZ, I love the gun and she shoots like a dream. Thanks guys.

Neat gun!

It's difficult to make out the 2-digit year mark on the oval. Is that an 86 on it? That would make sense. Looks like you have an early production Combat model based on the rear sights and the squared-off trigger guard. The Lux had the same sights but a rounded trigger guard. CZ did not mark the three types (Standard is the third with fixed rear sight) on the guns. I'm sure some collectors will put some kind of premium on such an early production gun. All I can say is congrats on that specimen and enjoy it.

The year mark is 88 hard to get a clear picture of it. She is in good shape for the age.

Not bragging, just didn’t realize what I had until coming here.
My brother just returned the 85 I bought him in 86 while I was stationed in Germany.
Sorry, no pictures yet.
Still in the original box and is like new. SN is 00128 and no import marks.
Can’t wait to shoot it.
Not my 1st CZ either, brought back a handful of 50s and picked up a pair of arsenal rebuild 52s about 10 years ago.

OP, that rear sight is sort of rare. Be careful not to break the screws or lose them. I hear it's hard to find parts for that sight these days.
That CZ85 in those two pictures looks like the right sight slide release broke and the owner had a bushing installed in the frame to make up the larger gap between the left side slide release shaft and the frame.
It's also had the hole in the ring hammer enlarged, a lot.

Here's my weird one.
It's a CZ-85 in 9 x 21mm. I won it in an auction about 7 or 8 years ago unfired. S/N 02047 I bought a 9 x 19 barrel from CZ and had a gunsmith fit it. I have shot 50 rounds through that barrel. Import marks from an outfit A.A.L on front of slide (of all places)

I recently bought a cz85 with a serial number which is lower then 100. Does anyone know which CZ magazines are interchangable with the early 85 pistol?
-
I believe the answer is yes. Had a 85 back in the 90s and it used 75 mags.

I use the shadow2 mags in my 85combat

I have a couple of interesting CZ85's. The first was apparently purchased by a soldier in Germany as it has no import marks.

The second is a 9x21 similar to the one jmace57 has.

Those 9x21 pistols with the four digit roll mark are meant for the Italian market where 9 Para is prohibited for civilian ownership.
