Title: P09 guide rod

Even a hair dryer would work.

It'll come right off.

I twisted the head off of one, leaving the threads inside the guide rod.

No real advantage just that some of us like steel parts in our guns. One plus to the steel rod is that it makes replacing the recoil spring easier and different springs can be used to tune the gun to the load being used as opposed to the captured rod which does not seem to come in different spring weights.

Post by: kato01 on May 15, 2017, 09:53:15 PM: I have a SSGR and 18# spring from CGW, and still have the stock guide rod and spring. I shot the gun while switching back and forth between the two. No difference in function with Speer Lawman 124s, and the stock GR/spring actually made the recoil feel softer. I left it in the gun and am keeping the SS as a spare.

What recoil spring did you use to fit the larger guide rod? I'm working on making this setup work right now.
