Title: Pricing on CZ 97B?
Post by: FlyingKat316 on April 11, 2017, 10:12:10 AM
I have a friend selling a CZ 97B (No front slide serrations) with box, and 4 mags for $600. In good to excellent condition. Any input or thoughts?

it doesn't sound unreasonable.

you could always offer $550 (unless they are a really good friend)

Condition/wear is always important, you have to judge that... there is quite a range between good-excellent, the price is in the ballpark of "reasonable"  for excellent and if the condition is just good maybe $550 would be more appropriate........given they are a bit hard to come by.

I thought it was fair seeing as how it comes with 4 mags compared to 2 and is in what I would judge from previous work experience as excellent. Its owned by one of my Army buds and he gave me first dibs over another buyer.

If it is in truly good-excellent condition that's a pretty fair price.
I have found over the years that my own standards for what constitutes excellent condition are on a much higher threshold than others are so what others call excellent I might cal fair-good. If it meets your standards and you are happy with it then it's a good deal for you.
Something to consider is that if it's an early gun as it sounds then it will not have the updated barrel and the mags may also be the old style so the gun likely will not feed anything but ball ammo.  I think 2012 and later guns got the updates so check the year on the right side of the slide.

Well I know its an older on based on the fact it does not have the forward serrations and does not have the "gear" looking bushing on the front. The bushing that this one has looks to be hand tightened

It is Pre-2013 which is the year they also began putting a Fiber Optic sight on the 97B.  I paid $550 for a slightly used 2013 97B in 2014, so I would be concerned about putting that much into a gun that is definitely older.  Mine feeds my 200gr LSWC reloads perfectly.

I checked the date on mine and it's a 2012 model and one of the first to arrive with the updated barrel and mags. CZ-USA actually sent me this gun as a warranty replacement for a 97 I sent in under warranty because it not only would not feed defensive ammo it would choke on ball ammo too. After they received my gun they let me know it would be a few months because they were waiting on the first shipment of the new models.
If you really want to buy your friends gun I'd see if he'll come down in price. The newer barrels are available to improve feeding with defensive ammo.
