Title: CZ 83 Concealed carry
Post by: dlk on April 20, 2017, 09:28:09 PM
I have a question for CZ 82/83 owners. Is your 82/83 a good concealed carry weapon for you? Have you moved up to a more modern 9mm design? Is is just a range gun for enjoyment?

I had a set of Kydex IWB holster and trigger guard pocket holster made by Black Rhino Concealment. With large front pockets (e.g. Duluth Trading Company Firehose cargo pants), I can pocket carry the vz82.

I have a new 2015 that I carry about 30% of the time. Perfect size dimensionally.

When I carry I use my CZ83.  I have gotten use to the weight and have practice with it enough in various scenarios (to include low light) to ensure a high percentage of center of mass hits out to 10 meters.  It does not matter how powerful a round is unless you hit the target.

Lehigh defense extreme penetrators and defenders create very nasty and deep wound channels in gel tests, penetrate barriers well. I carry my 83 with those bullets. I can also double tap best with it and have high hits on a moving steel plate at the range. I'm confident in the 83.

I periodically cc my CZ82.  But the double stack magazine makes it a little thick in the summer.  So, in warm weather, I cc my Bulgarian Makarov PM in a DeSantis Softuk IWB.  Fortunately, my choices allow me to standardize on the 9x18 round.

Thanks all, I have had my CZ a long time and periodically wonder if the grass is greener so to speak; I'm thinking replacing the 83 with a Beretta Nano or something similiar

I will say this. Sig has a nice little 380. I held one my friend was showing off and man was i envious. Beats the 83 all day and night for cc

I'm glad to see folks still carrying the 82/83. I have a surplus 83 that I've thought about carrying since it's reliable and I am very accurate with it. What is a good OWB holster for conceal carry?

I made the choice a few years back to standardize on the 9x18 round.  I keep a CZ-82 in my truck year round.  In the winter, I carry another CZ-82 in a DeSantis SofTuk IWB holster.  When summer comes, a Bulgarian Makarov PM replaces the CZ-82 in the SofTuk.

Have to admit I've been sorely tempted by the recent sale prices for the S&W M&P 9m, but the bother and expense of picking up two of those pistols and building up an inventory of 9x19 rounds keeps me from doing so.  I'm pretty happy with my current setup.

Is the SofTuk holster made specifically for the 82 or is it designed for another pistol? I'd carry IWB if I could find a decent holster that's comfortable.

Polish P-64 pistols are still available if you want something a little smaller than a vz82.
