While practicing the Joe L "Zen and the Art of Trigger Pull" blank paper training session with my 97B and my 97BE I incedentally created a comparison of the difference with and without the CGW bushing mod. These are 20 rds each at 25 yds using S&B 230gr FMJ.

Wow, your factory bushing must not have been very tight...or you learned something during the switch. Either way, that is a good result with the "E".

Did 4 groups of 10 rds each switching back and forth between each pistol. So the groupings were consistant with each try.
Yes, the 97B barrel has alot of wiggle to it. Especially compared to the 97BE barrel. The 97B works very well at 25 yd 8" steel challenge targets. I had never tried it past 15 yds for target shooting until now. It will be heading to CGW for the new bushing soon.
BTW, I ordered some Atlanta Arms 185gr JHP to try out.

I've been contemplating getting the CGW bushing. I wonder what their turn around time is for just this work. Time to call.

4 weeks. :)

Thank you.

I've seen Joe L give lots of great advice, but where is this specific "Zen and Art of Trigger Pull" that you are referencing? I'm always ready to read and learn more from others who are ahead of me, especially Joe L.

2 97BEs! You are a lucky man. I have one and it is the last gun I would sell next to my SP01. I think the bushing turns a stock 97 into a high end 1911 killer myself O0

I just sent my 97B to CGW to get the "E" conversion. I waited about 4 weeks to get off the wait list before I could send it to CGW. If past experience serves as a good predictor, turn around time at CGW will be 3-4 weeks.

Mailed mine 3 weeks ago for the nose job and TS adjustable rear sight installation.
David phoned last Thursday that the job was finished and would soon be on its way back.
