Title: Anyone install a CGW 85c trigger in their Canik?
Post by: noway on June 19, 2017, 11:05:47 PM
I don't want it sloppy loose, but it's binding on the trigger bar at either extreme. If I open up the well in back of the trigger it may fit better, but I don't want to mess with this one. Yet.

The fit with the CGW trigger...

And with the Canik OEM trigger...

After filing a bit on the bar surfaces, the 85c moves freer, but still binds when pressed to the rear. Seems like some relief on the inside of the trigger would help?

I had CGW drill out the hole for me and I had an 85c trigger drop right into my P-120

Presumably that was an additional service? Not that I would mind.

Did you try to fit it first and have issues, since Canik quality control is irregular I hear?

I like to try to do these projects myself when I can, but not problem turning it over to the experts...

A little dremelling and some filing, and it's in!

No reach reduction without more parts (not sure they're making them for the Canik yet), but can adjust over-travel.

The reduced power trigger spring, along with the SPK-1 spring kit, make this a far more 'shootable' gun.

And now for the proof of the pudding...  :D

I installed the combat trigger with overtravel stop, and used a reduced main spring, and I have a wonderfully smooth and usable double action trigger now. I find that the Canick single action reset is fine.   These are very very good guns. Polishing does wonders.

BTW - I kind of like the C100 trigger in certain aspects.  The SA on these is decent and has a short camming - much shorter than the CZ.  The half cock seems to be a bit more cocked than the CZ - which makes for a SHORTER DA pull.  Most You Tube jockies don't know how to decock these guns safely and miss out on what is a VERY good DA pull once it is polished - short an smooth - one o the best in the business.  The reset is a tad shorter than a stock CZ and is very tactile.  Also, the DA SEEMS to be exceptionally smooth once smoothed and broken in.

I thought the 85c trigger from Cajun was already "modded" for use in the Caniks?
