Just curious to see who among us might be running a CZ in .45. Love the .45 round and love the looks of the 97BD. Anyone to give a review?

Maybe you should check the 97 sub forum.

Yep! Love my 1911's, love .45, love CZ's, the love child = CZ97B"E" :)
Just recently bought one from a member here which had been to CGW for the "E or Enhanced" make over. Wow, what a gun! Shoots as well as any of my 1911's (NH, WC, EB), can carry cocked and locked with 10+1 rounds of 230gr Federal HST goodness. Have about 200 rds through it and has run flawlessly. For some reason it doesn't seem to be a very popular choice amongst the CZers out there, not sure why but I guess when you think CZ handguns I guess you think of 9mm first. I do love shooting 9mm through an all steel gun and do also love my all steel CZ's as well.
The CZ 97 is a must have for me.

Yep. I've had my 97BD for several years now. Upgraded with some CGW parts and it is an awesome .45 ACP. Everytime I take it out I wonder why I still have 1911's in the safe. The 97 out performs them in every way.
-
Oh my! :o I was fearful of this. Might be in the market now for another CZ. Thanks everyone. Sorry Mod I obviously missed this thread. Thanks for getting my question into the correct thread. :)
-
If i had found a 97B before i spent all the money on having 1911's built over the years i may have never considered waiting months for a .45. Since purchasing the 97 none of my other .45's have been out of the safe. The 97 is easily the softest shooting, most reliable, most accurate pistol you will find under $700.00 on the planet. With a little Cajun spice and a few simple modification the trigger on my 97 rivals any 1911 i have ever owned. Wouldn't trade mine for any 1911 i can think of and it would probably be the last gun i would sell if pressed into getting rid of all my firearms.

Drank the Kool Aid. Sold off my Sarsilmaz K2 45 and ordered a 97B.
It arrived Friday, will be at the club tomorrow to get acquainted.
CGW Pro-Package is on the way.
Stay tuned. More later..

After the Pro Package you will need to send it down South to CZisney Land for a nose job to get the ultimate experience. ;D ;D ;D

Now that's funny . . . . . CZisney Land . . . . . ;D

I was sure your new building would have that name on it. ;D
-
Nose job is definitely in the plan.
Just have to phase things a bit.

Its a gun that should be passed down to heirs, but unfortunately i'm taking it with me.

I love my 97B. It is my favorite 45. It did take me some time to develop my reloads for it. It didn't seem to like my 230gr Montana Gold HP. I was reloading them a little too long and had some failure to feeds.
I also added a rail to the gun in case I decided to use it for my bedside table gun or for more weight on the front end.

Mine's only a few weeks old, but I'm enjoying every minute of it.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170718/f0d7bd5060040976d9d18ba2cacf3a5b.jpg)

Congrats!

Now THAT is one fine looking .45! I have loved and shot 1911s for far more years than I care to count. This picture above just might make me "cheat" on my 1911s.

They are sweet. A little trigger work, and they're a sweet shooter! The 97B is the first firearm outside of my 1911s that I truly enjoy sending 45acp through

Actually, found those on the CZUSA shop site. I really liked the looks of the angular black aluminum ones, but they were just a tad too thin for my hand.

Well, if you are a fan of 1911s, don't buy at CZ 97, don't look at a CZ 97, don't hold a CZ 97, and certainly do not, under any conditions, shoot a CZ 97.
The sad reason is that you'll never look at 1911s the same again, "What a nice WWI relic! Got a tin helmet and a gas mask to go with that?"
My two beautiful Kimber 1911s are now safe queens. That's what the 97 does to 1911s.

You, sir, win the internet today! ;D ;D ;D

+1 on that statement! 8)

I just finished a year (Sept through July) of using my 97B in USPSA competition. I have been a Single Stack guy for a number of years and wanted to give the CZ a shot in L-10. Since May of 2016 I have put just over 4300 rounds through it. I has run flawlessly. EXCEPT mine does not like SWC bullets. I was looking for a holster to use in competition and I found that the Bladetech holster for my SP-01 also fits the 97B, if you loosen the tensioning screws. The big CZ performed as anyone would expect.
-
That is a high recommendation! Happy to hear the pistol has been a good one. :D

I had a little problem with mine to start with trying to use SWC's but I soon found that ACME's 200 grain coated SWC loaded out to 1.245 to 1.250 works like a charm. Mine gobbles them up like Pac-Man and shoots them into little tiny clusters. I use their 230 coated RN for competition and never have a problem but mine likes their SWC's just as well.
-
Yea, I run the same 45 SWC, Flat Point and Round nose in the 97 that I do in my 1911 with good results.
I did need to shorten the OAL about 2-3 /1000 on the Flat point to get them to fully chamber but that's all the problem that I have had with the 97.
it also eats so far every self defense round that I have fed it.

No surprise to me; if the 97 isn't the best .45acp on the market, please let me know what is.

I absolutely love my 97BD! It puts me in a great mood every time I take it out to the range.
I have been considering picking up a Dan Wesson Valor, since I have never personally owned a 1911. The way some of you guys are comparing your 97s to your 1911s ... are you saying I will be disappointed w/ the Dan Wesson?
-
I have a CZ 97BD Love it . Installed a FF3 Red Dot shoots amazing. Trying to work some kinks with Springer Precision mount screws backing out of mount . (Not Dovetail )after 100 rounds happened twice even with Blue loctite. Maybe old loctite? Will have to try new bottle of Loctite.
-
I have yet to run SWC bullets in any of my .45acp toys. Happy to hear it runs well in them too. Still very partial to fmj's and jhp's. If the 97b tuns them without a problem then they are all right in my estimation.

Did you shake it well? Blue loctite will separate in the tube and needs to be re-mixed before use.

I own both, and there's never ever a reason to be disappointed with a DW Valor, beautiful gun shoots very well. But my 97 "E" setup from CGW out shoots the Valor as far as accuracy goes. That doesn't mean I'm gonna sell my Dan Wesson tho! It might mean I sell some other 1911s :)
