Ok so I have seen this a few times on here. People talking about their P07 or 09 being DAO.
Just wondering how and why?

Paging Cyanide.... [emoji3](Sorry, OP...just having some fun with Mr. DAO on this forum. The serious responses will come along shortly).

CZ has a modular system? pistol wich was made like a requeriment for the pistol replacement in the US Marine.. But the production was few pieces.. in .40 and 9mm.. it's DAO, QR code box, chamber loaded indicator, antireflective color, ambidextrous safety..
I've not seen a production P-07/09 pistol DAO(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170727/a7bc619b60127923c1c42b5970fdc6e3.jpg)(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170727/d1969aa1e683701bf9ce39d43dbd879e.jpg)

I really hate I missed out on snagging one of those.

Just out of curiosity, why would anyone in this day and age want double action only?
-
In my case, I didn't want my wife to fire DA and then stress fire in SA by accident, if something ever called for her to shoot when I wasn't home. So I bought a Sig P250c, a DAO pistol. The trigger is long, relative to SA, but easy to pull. My own preference has always been DA/SA
-
There's still lots of DAO lovers out there. Every shot is the same consistent pull for one thing. Some people really like the consistent heavier pull. No different than people that prefer the consistent light pull of a SAO. And look at all the spurless DA revolvers out there. Or how about DA revolvers in general. Sure, out at the range you can thumb the hammer back for SA, but really, those that carry a DA revolver, practice DA for defense, IMHO.
It's all in what people prefer.

A well-made DAO with a trigger pull a bit heavier than the normal striker-fired guns have would be an excellent option for carry. Many find that the trigger they shoot with little effort at the range can be shot way too easy (i.e. unintentionally) under stress...
Also, many revolver-lovers would love to find a semiauto that gave them the best of both worlds.

You rang, brother?! [emoji23]
Like the others have said, it is a consistent trigger pull, with the heavier pull weight adding a (possible) slim extra margin of safety. I will add, contrary to popular belief and opinion that a shooter must have a short, light trigger pull in order to place accurate, effective fire on target, with proper training and lots of practice, a good DAO is no harder to master than anything else.
For those who are experienced shooting DA revolvers, they are second nature and, at least for myself, a fun way to challenge friends at the range for a little good-natured competition. This might come across wrong, but there's usually no faster way of "waking someone up" than to have them shoot various distances with DAO, especially whenthey perform admirably with a tuned SA or striker trigger, but forsake DA because "they'll never have to use it".
I personally like it because it forces me to focus even more on the task at hand and, it is simply the pistol trigger system I have the most experience with in the last (almost) 28 years of shooting. Concerning handguns, after I become acquainted with one it doesn't take long for me to get my double action grouping almost as tight as single action/striker fire within reasonable distance (15 yards for example). Mind you, it doesn't mean I'm shooting super tight groups at 20-25 yards, but it's a nice challenge! I simply prefer light triggers on a competition firearm, not something I'm going to carry.
Below is a picture showing my four beloved DAO's, with trigger pulls ranging from 6 1/2# up to 9#, three of which alternate in my carry rotation (the P-09 MHS is just a tad too large for my short, stubby self LOL). The only non-DAO pistol I carry is my Glock 19, but even on it I modified the trigger to best emulate a decent DA pull with the NY1 Spring and Minus Connector combo. Takes out almost all of the pre-travel mush and makes for a very nice six pound or so pull. I'm one of the rare oddballs who also has no problem with the NY1 spring/stock connector combo, giving a nice 8# pull.

Now, with all of that said, I'm NOT a fan of HK's LEM or Sig's DAK (though I like DAK much better). I get the concept behind both of them, but they just don't do anything for me. And believe me I've tried, and multiple times!

I still say they look funny with bobbed hammers Cyanide. [emoji12][emoji12][emoji12]

Ok so I just want to point out. When making this post I totally understand the DAO concept, I was just under the impression that some people modified their 07 or 09s to be DAO and I was just confused on how they would go about doing that and then based on cost of all that why they would do it to a 07 or 09 when they could buy something already designed that way
-
Cyanide is the one to describe the process of converting to DAO.
As to why not buy something already designed....... well the ones already designed aren't CZ's. 'Nuff said[emoji6][emoji6]
Seriously tho, it is the only way for people like Cyanide to have their cake and eat it too. [emoji23]

Lol fair enough. And yeah I get the whole do it because they don't offer one but that's what I want.
I was just curious myself

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but is that Beretta something you converted to DAO, a Type C or a true DAO? Just wondering, because I'm looking at either a DAO .40, or Type C .45. or .40.

The cost of my conversion on the P-07 through CZ Custom was a mere $165, whereas the P-09 MHS came DAO, though I did spend a few dollars having the trigger lightened and smoothed out by them as well (had a false reset at the SA reset point, but no more).
I had the P-07 done to maintain uniformity with my CZ 100 and PX4 D, and because Stuart from CZ Custom wouldn't give his up! [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] I then snagged the MHS by pure luck when CZ Custom had a few remaining for sale.
I will give it to Beretta, they make outstanding DAO pistols from the factory. Have had the pleasure of owning a 96D Centurion and also a couple of Cougars in the 8000 D and 8040 D variants. One day I will pick up a few more!

True DAO D model! The Type C isn't a bad trigger in itself and I wouldn't mind having one for fun but, right now a little strapped for cash and, they are difficult to find in 9mm. I just wish that Beretta would make the PX4 Compact variant in DAO, because to me that'd be an awesome addition. [emoji16]

Absolute best DAO trigger I ever touched was that Colt Z-40. Was unreal good. I tried the CZ-100 trigger, (sorry amigo!), and it was a wee bit stiff. :) I wouldn't mind seeing a Cajun Gun Works conversion of the P-07 and P-09 to DAO! Might be very cool.

There, fixed it for you. Dang blasphemous heathen! [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

LOL - gotta say, my grandfather's S&W Model 10 has a smooooth DA, his lack of care notwithstanding...
-
I have one of the MHS pistols. Had to put a CGW hammer in it. DAO pull was pretty rough. I prefer a DA/SA anyway. Just have to get a hold of some decocker levers now.
-
I'm guessing some people just don't do the suggested sanding ,stoning and polishing of these pistols and then complain about how heavy the trigger is.

Well, in fairness, not everyone is willing to risk doing it improperly.
I'd also guess that some, like myself, just prefer to let things wear in naturally. That is what I do even with CGW parts installed.

You may have let it wear it naturally but did you continue to complain about it?
-
66]You may have let it wear it naturally but did you continue to complain about it?
I didn't really take the op's comment as complaining... especially given his preference to have the gun as DA/SA. More like a decision looking for a reason ;-)

I think I was speaking in general terms not necessarily the op.
Many people buy a gun they know is going to have a rough trigger and never do anything about it but continue to complain. Kind of like walking home from work everyday down the same street, down the same sidewalk fall in the same hole every single day and complain about it every single day.

I've decided on the .40. I can get it either in the D or C.
This is going to be mainly for HD/range, not CC.
I've got a stock P-07 and was wondering how either one of those triggers would compare to it.

Gonna hang onto it to restore gun to original condition if I ever sell/trade it.
Sorry but it isn't for sale. Except for an obscene amount of money...... ;D

Some of us do, and still don't have the trigger we want.
For some reason my 07 responded very nicely, my 09 not so much.

And before the MHS, there was the old school CZ 75B DAO. Was a decent DAO even before it got Cajunized (RRK) and now it's a very smooth DAO trigger. I believe only 50 each in 9mm and .40 were brought in (2000) If I correctly read the e-translation of the Pazdera book on it. There's one presently available on the big auction site as new old stock and priced accordingly at $600. Possibly a combination of price, ad headline (doesn't advertise as DAO) and DAO that's had this one unsold for over the past few months.
