Title: Shooting the CZ 97B"E" WOW!
Post by: Jigo23 on August 08, 2017, 09:05:53 PM
Just got done shooting the CGW CZ 97B "E" pistol I bought from a member here for the 2nd time now and didn't believe it could possibly shoot any better than it did the first time out but HOLY CRAP!!!  This thing is absolutely amazing, if you have a CZ 97 and haven't sent it to CGW to get some
E-lovin' you don't know what you are missing!  It has really put a damper on my love and attachment to my Nighthawk, Ed Brown, and Wilson Combat 1911's. This gun is in a class all by itself for .45 semi-auto's.  I don't have too many guns in the safe that I won't ever get rid of, but this one ain't going anywhere. My sons can fight it out for it when I'm gone :)

Just got a 97BD and haven't been able to shoot it yet. It's new, but you think it needs the E upgrade?

Yes the 97 is an amazing pistol. I am thoroughly jealous about the fact that you have a E version and I want one. In its stock form it's as accurate as any other 45. The E is probably through the roof! I can only imagine as I've shot a sp01 that was only moderately cajunized. Congrats on your new favorite toy.

I get bored at times and shoot my 97B"E" at 100 yards from a rest.  Here is a recent video.  I've shot several sub 6" five shot groups with the pistol, but this one is cold, not much recent practice.  The hits not in the black are the shooter, not the pistol.

I love my CZ 97BE and have had similar results.

I just wish that I had started with a CZ 97BD as I'm partial to decockers.

Great looking pistol.
Have to know where you found those G10 grips.

My youngest brother bought his first CZ today--a 97B. I met him at the range and let him and his youngest daughter shoot my 97BE and P10-C. Good times!

Congrats, they are incredible guns after the CGW upgrade. Here's a pic of mine and its nearly identical twin which belongs to my buddy. Mine is on top.

Oh man, yeah for sure!  Luckily I bought it already Cajunized. I shot a different one that was just stock and liked it a lot, but the upgraded gun I bought is like a whole different gun.
Between this one and the Pro kit I bought and had installed by my gunsmith locally for the PCR, I am a true believer in all things CGW.
Do it man, I guarantee you won't regret it.

Thanks bud, yeah no doubt about it makes a HUGE difference. You are right though about it being one hell of a gun even stock tho.

I just wish that I had started with a CZ 97BD as I'm partial to decockers.

You know what?  I also thought I preferred only decocker models and I do love the ones I have. But after getting and shooting this gun and my CZC Shadow with safety only, I am quite confident carrying and shooting the safety models. I've never had a problem carrying 1911's in condition 1 or cocked and locked (round in chamber, hammer cocked to the rear with safety on) so I like the option of carrying my CZ's that way. Having said that, with the incredible double action first shot due to the CGW or CZC upgrades I prefer to carry my Shadow and 97 cocked, but hammer CAREFULLY lowered and first shot in double action.  Yes I know many will disagree and yes it is potentially dangerous if you don't pay 100% attention to what you are doing.  I've done the risk assessment and practiced it hundreds of time until I feel confident. Because of the light DA in these, I do engage the manual safety with hammer in half-cock position.  No I wouldn't forget to disengage the manual safety, since the actions from this point are the same as 1911's. My thumb rests on the manual safety lever on the draw and is lowered as I bring gun up to aim and fire. If you aren't comfortable with this, that is fine, just don't do it. Carry it in Condition 1, as you would a 1911.

The grips came on the gun when I bought it, I believe the previous owner said they were listed on the CZ Custom site.
