Title: P10C RMR cowitness stock sights
Post by: Ferris13 on October 17, 2017, 11:18:17 AM
Any issues with mounting an RMR this low on the slide?  I came across this on instagram and I'm interested but haven't seen a mount this low yet on the P10C and curious if there could be any possible issues?

Mechanics aside, the rmr gets a heavy coat of carbon in that position.
I don?t know their work and don?t want to bash, but their are too many good shops doing it the right way (opinion) some even members of this forum.

I still don't think it will co-witness well with stock sights.  JagerWerks milled my RMR pocket .185" below the slide surface (same depth as the factory rear sight dovetail) and I could barely see my .225" Dawson P09 front/.245" Dawson Glock MOS rear sights.  The factory #3 front is ~.150" tall.  So unless the pocket is milled over 1/4" deep, there would still only be a sliver of iron sights to use.

I also wonder how much thread engagement the right side mounting screw has, since it sits right over the extractor.  Mine is well clear and doesn't block the extractor pin which is a plus.

For reference, here's my co-witness with .225" tall front sights and a .185" deep rmr cut.  It's really only usable for slow target shooting, so I've since replaced with in a .265" Dawson P09 front/.280" Ameriglo Glock rear.

Thanks for the pics Earlan very helpful.  Yeah i think you're right as far as how hard it might be to use the stock sights even if they do mill that low.  They had another picture of the cowitness and it barely had clearance.  How are you liking the rear sight placement in front of the RMR?

I had an MOS Glock with the iron sight to the rear, but once I tried irons forward in a class I switched.  The sight radius is a little shorter than say a Glock 26, but they don't block the dot or distract from it.  As an added bonus the sight protects the RMR a bit from brass and the rear sights corners no longer poke little mouse holes in my shirts.

Dawson P09 .215" Fiber Front
Dawson Glock MOS .225" Rear

That pic is misleading.  When viewed at arms length, about 1/2" the fiber dot is covered by the RMR body.  I'm much happier with a .265" front and an Ameriflo GL-408 Rear shown below:

I've had a few done.  Black Nitride adds a few weeks, but it's much more resilient to holster wear.

Here's a write-up of the work they did on my P10c:

Hey Earlan357,

With that slide set up, what holster do you use?  I got my p10c a while back, but not real sure on a holster option with an optic and co-witness sights or if that is even possible to find.

Thanks,

After I RMR?s my P10C I modified a JM Custom AIWB holster to clear thr RMR and BUIS.  It was pretty easy to do with a dremel cutting wheel and sanding drum.  Also had to change the shape of the sweatguard slightly using a heat gun.

Later when I settled on a WML I contacted Shooks Custom to order one of his AIWB holsters molded specifically for a RMR?d P10C with taller irons and O-Light PL Mini.  Been wearing that daily as of late including some 6 hr long drives and have been impressed how comfortable it is.

Had my RMR machine work done at Gunworks Machine in Wichita, Kansas. www.gunworksmachine.com (http://www.gunworksmachine.com)

Sits low on the gun and gives about a 1/3 co-witness with factory sights.

CGW 15lb spring, trigger work, stippling, etc- Love it. It has become my daily...

Dirk, I'm saving up to get an RMR and slide milling and should be able to get it done around Christmas.  You said that the RMR sits low enough to get 1/3 cowitness with factory sights - that has got me excited.  If you don't mind me asking (?), about how much did it cost you?  Thanks.

Honestly don't remember the cost. Around $100.00 or so, I think. I had the slide redone as well with one of their high tech coatings, so that was a bit more.

I love how low it sits with no need for suppressor height sights. Trying to find a pic to post, but don't have any online aside from on my puter...

If you could find one I'd be very interested to view it.  I was pondering sending my P10c to one of the popular well known machine shops (on this forum).  Originally wanted the cut and re-nitride of the milling, and the black suppressor height sights (not any of the fancy stuff): but if I could get the factory tritium night sights to cowitness 1/3 - that would be ideal on several fronts.  I may just reach out to them; thanks for the vine.  PS - regarding the sights, another great alternative would be if Dead Air makes their flip up suppressor Glock sights available for CZ/other makes.  Reached out to them and they implied they intended to but for now they are just going after "the low hanging fruit".  Was concerned that over the last couple of weeks the price went from $120 to $140 and now to $190?  One of the machine shops offered to mill out the P10c rear to fit Glock sights, but they could not do the front.   Wonder why?
