Has anyone modded they're Alien Gear Holster for a P09 with an RDS (Vortex Viper or the like).
Pics Please .
-
Following just for curiosity.
I feel like it could be an easy mod, but I haven't looked at my 3.0 in a long time since I ordered my T.rex Arms 2 or 3 years ago.
But the other good part is they sell the outer shells and they don't cost much so should be easy and also worth a try.

I know I can modify it, I just look for different ideas. I like to take my time and think about it. When I rush into things, my last statement is always ..." OH man I didn't even think about THAT".
-
Anybody else have pictures?
-
Well as it turns out I'm going to have to mod my holster sooner than I thought, primary machines got my slide done and RDS mounted in three days that includes cerakote paint. H0ly cr@p that's fast.!!!!
-
I'm very surprised nobody's done this yet with their po7 or po9 holster.
I guess I'll be the guinea pig and end up posting pictures .
-
Whenever I order a holster, there is usually an option for optics Compatibility, and I always check it. Just in case I decide to add one in the future. A mod should be fairly straight forward.

Doc I've modified several Stealthgear IWB holsters for RMRs.
I did not want a holster that had a cut out for the dot.
I wanted the dot covered / protected as much as possible.
I'm not sure what you're going for with yours.
If you are going to try to cover the dot stick your P-07 in there and apply heat
with a heatgun 4 - 6"s away, constantly moving the heatgun.
Use cardboard or something to block off the rest of the holster and isolate the
heat to only the area that you want.
It doesn't take long, 20 - 30 seconds maybe.
Don't go to long, if you start to smell hot kydex or see it start to gloss over stop.
Immediately pull out the P-07 and insert the P-09.
You may have to pull the edge out gently with your finger in order to get the dot under
the kydex initially.
Wear something like Mechanics gloves while doing this so you can
mold the kydex around the dot with your fingers.
It cools quite quickly so keep it moving.
Remember, you'd rather not have enough heat and have to just try again
than to use to much and burn the holster.
Keep the heat away from and isolate the screw mounting points.
As mentioned spare shells are realitivly cheap so I wouldn't worry to much
wether you decide to cut out the dot or heat to cover it.
Lots of videos on YouTube about polishing the cut edges of kydex with a
thick wheel and compound.
Careful what shapes you cut, so you'll be able to polish them.
I was slightly nervous about doing this to my holsters at
first but all three went quick and without issues.
Harbor freight sells a cheap heatgun that works well.

Alien Gear doesn't have a shell for my 3.0 iwb so I modified mine.
