Title: Little help
Post by: pewpew4life on December 21, 2017, 01:51:53 PM
I just installed the HB Industries handguard on my Scorpion. Is the charging handle supposed to be so loose after the install? I have the HB Industries polymer extended charging handle. Once I send the bolt forward the charging handle just rattles around. I put the reduced power charging spring in charging handle that came with the handguard. Is that what is causing this? Or is it normal? Functionally it works (locks the bolt back. Sends bolt forward with AK Slap). It just rattles and has play inside the housing when the bolt isn't locked back.

Also purchased HB Industries compensator for my Scorpion. Anyone have any experience with this? How is it supposed to be clocked? I'm guessing port's on top? And the concave washer that came with it, how does that go on? Concave towards the muzzle side or towards the trunnion? There were no directions with the compensator.

Well, I took out the reduced power charging handle spring that HBI sent and reinstalled the factory spring. That took care of loose charging handle. I spoke with HBI and they said that when they originally started making their handguards they didn't mill them with a channel inside them like now for the spring to sit in. So if you order a handguard from them, don't install the new spring that comes with it. HBI rep said they are gonna stop sending their handguard kits with the spring all together since it is just causing more problems at this point.

And if anyone installs their compensator, it doesn't matter which direction you install the crush washer. Just install it to where the comp is closer to clocking correctly.

Seems you solved it  :D, yeah that weak spring is meant for aluminum handles or factory. The pre installed hbi prostock spring are nice and stiff.

As for the comp you cant use a crush washer there isnt enough room. You have 3/8 of threads and the crush washer is 3/16 thick.... I had to buy a shim kit from primary arms.
