I was at a gun store yesterday and saw a .357 Magnum automatic revolver. Let me tell you, this was one of the coolest looking things I've ever seen! It is made by an Italian company that I'm not familiar with, and was going for just under $1,000. I was told that the company has been making this model for something like 60 years. The idea is that you pull the trigger once for double action, then every round after that is already cocked for single action. Necessary? No. Cool? YES!

CDNN was selling the same guns for several hundred less. (Can't remember the brand name...)
They are supposed to be very accurate weapons.
Want to try to find a holster or a speed loader for that sucker?

It's the Mateba - a very cool gun - it actually has the barrel matching up with the bottom round in the cylinder.
Here's one in .44 mag on GA (http://www.gunsamerica.com/guns/976678367.htm)
I've never seen one for less than $900 so if CDNN or anyone else had a deal like you're describing Walt I would snap up as many as my CC would accomodate! I'll have to check that out.
edit - just found another on GB, for $700 (http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=42888486) - bleep that's tempting me!!!

Not a very attractive pistol is it

As the Old Sage observed: 'Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, ugly goes clear to the bore (er,bone)'.

Gents,
Actually got to shoot one of these Mataba's a few years back. Big, looked clumsey, but shot like a house house on fire!
P.S. BIG cool factor rating!

Wow, that M is an ugly gun. No doubt it's remarkable!
