I think I want a CZ 75 D PCR. I much prefer hammer-fired DA/SA pistols to striker-fired plastic pistols - my idea of the perfect pistol is a Sig-Sauer P225 or 226 -- but I'm hoping a CZ 75 D PCR will change my mind.
But when I look on the major auction sites or the big-name internet vendors, they are out of stock! What's the deal with CZ's? Do they come in waves? Who are the internet vendors who stock them routinely?
Thanks in advance.

They come in batches...hang around here for a while and someone will report them in stock somewhere

Here is one for $579 (assuming you do not live in California);

This is a California version, 10 round magazines instead of 14 round magazines, $629.

The same store has the (10 round) CZ P-01, the same alloy frame with a full dust cover and rail for $579. I have both the D PCR and P-01 and I prefer the D PCR. I might be in the minority on that.

And finally, the all steel compact with a manual safety for $529.

Finally, what I think is the best solution; a CZ D PCR with the Cajun Gun Works Pro Package for $986. The CGW site says 9-10 week wait but that is the same wait time if you want to send your own gun to them.
This works out to paying $560 for the pistol and $426 list price for the Pro Package installed.
I have the Pro Package installed on all five of my CZs (SP-01, P-01, BD, D PCR, 97B) and cannot say enough good things about the people and the products from CGW.

Welcome from Virginia. I got my sp01 from Damascus guns. They come to the nation's gun show in Dulles Expo. Your name looks familiar (vaguntrader).
Good luck on your search.

Thanks all for the comments.
If I knuckle down, I think I can find one of these. Meantime, I am reading reviews and gathering other people's perceptions as they relate them on the internet.
I will be at the Nation's Gun Show on 9-11 Feb at Dulles Expo Center in Northern Virginia. I sent an email to Damascus Guns to ask if they might have a CZ 75 D PCR at the show... Their price looks reasonable. I drove past their shop in Damascus last summer and did not stop... but I wasn't thinking "CZ" then.

They're usually at Dulles for the show. Great doing business with him as I've picked up a couple PCRs from him. His at show inventory was better than what's listed on the webpage at the time. Call or email him.
Good Hunting!

I had chance that fire PCR in the range the other day and noticed that the gun actually has CZ PCR engraved on the side. I have see other once, but they all say CZ-75 compact? are they the same thing?
-
I hope so, because the one I ordered from Deguns arrived at my FFL and it's as you state- only says compact on the side, no PCR. I tested the frame with a magnet and it was not steel. Even the CZ website shows a gun#91194 without PCR marking (which I would have preferred) . From reading various threads here, it appears that CZ sometimes uses different parts in assembling various models, but I'm just starting to learn about them.

They?ve said ?75D Compact? for a number of years IIRC. The 75D is the Czech designation, for both non railed (PCR) and railed (P01).
I haven?t heard of a PCR being marked PCR for quite awhile. YMMV[emoji6]

This is my PCR with a date code of 15 that I purchased from CGW in December of 2015 and delivered in January of 2016(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180128/400d4e067c6af80d6a12ba89d8bd159f.jpg)

Yes, PCR will change your mind.
You will know the instant you pick it up if you like it or not. If you do......don't ever pick up a PCR Pro Tek 1 from CZC. Its like Crack to an addict. I love mine. Stuart and the guys at CZC do amazing things to these guns.
I have a Sig P226 Enhanced Elite in 9mm. The two an nothing alike. The PCR is a smaller gun than the 226, smaller frame, shorter sight radius. Grip angles similar, but other than mine both being DA/SA decocker guns in 9mm that's the only comparison. Oh...and they both are black.lol

The Rami will change your mind, too. My Rami is the only pistol that over the past 10 years has never been in danger of being sold or traded. It's that good. I'm currently trying to sell a Mod 2 9mm (I carry the Mod 2 .45) to fund another PCR. My daughter has my other PCR in TX. Anybody need a Mod 2 9mm?
