What year did the P-09 switch from Gen 1 to Gen
2?
-
The P-09 is still Gen 1.
The P-07 is the one that got updated to a Gen 2 that included new features from the Gen 1 P-09.
Not that that is confusing in the slightest. ;-)

Didn?t they change the trigger shoe and hammer at some point?

That is... possible. I'll see what I can dig up.

Thank you, I appreciate it! Seems I remember a trigger shape change for sure.

We know they did on the P07. I?ve never seen a P09 with a differentbtrigger.

Yep - that is what I was thinking myself.
Here is a list of Gen 1 to Gen 2 changes on the P-07:
- Nitrated slide & barrel finish
- Forward cocking serrations
- New trigger design
- New hammer design
- Carry bevel on slide and frame (rounded corners/edges)
- Interchangeable backstraps (S, M, L)
- Metal, 3-dot sights
- No lanyard loop on mainspring plug
- New finish on magazines
- Upgraded magazine spring and base retainer. (Mags now officially hold 15 rather than 16)

Check the trigger out in this pic....

You can see it?s different than in this pic...

Both of my P09's have the trigger like the 2nd picture. Sort of "3" angles from top to bottom. The trigger in the first picture looks sort of like the trigger in my UB P01, barely curved.
I remember previous threads/discussions about the trigger shape change.
I even went back to the old curved P07 DUTY trigger on my P09 because the "3" angled trigger was so bad to bite my thumb on the .40 S&W P09 while the old DUTY P07 was just fine even though recoil was more intense.
The triggers are pretty easy to change out.
-
Exactly! Maybe there wasn?t exactly a generation change, but I was curious when CZ went to the new straighter trigger.
And you can see that the hammers also look a little different.
-
That first picture could have been some early preproduction version. I ordered a P09 right after they were released and it was just like the second picture. David

Ok, thanks David!

Actually, mine looks like the first pic with the flatter trigger (like the trigger that comes on the Gen2 P-07).

I believe the flatter one is the newer of the two.
They must have just changed over in process.
-
That's what I figured sOnspark. I just assumed the change in the trigger and hammer were considered a change in the Generation and was wondering when that took place.

CZUB, like many these days, make incremental changes in process that are barely communicated to the buying public, much less quantified by generation.
It is what it is, I suppose. Don't even get me started on SKUs ... LOL
The upside is that they do seem to really care about their customers, unlike many manufacturers these days. It may require patience on the customer's part but things generally end well if you tough it out.

I have 2 supressor ready models, one was regular sights and flat mag floorplates and the second had suppressor height sights and +2 extensions. I dont know if id notice any other differences.... Oh one is black and one is urban grey.
Now i need to get them both out and look at the triggers.
Im not certain but they are at least a year apart...

Let us know what you find Angel. In any case, I'm really happy with the flatter triggers on my 07 and 09!
