Title: My Kel-Tec Broke!!
Post by: verbaltharhino on November 06, 2005, 08:36:22 PM
My little P32 is off to the factory for some repair work.  I pulled it out of my glove box the other day only to find that the little plug in the bottom of the grip frame was missing.  I found it in the box and saw that the spring securing it to the inner frame had broke and not only resulted in losing the plug, but it rendered the gun inoperable, too.  Good thing I didn't need it!!  With the cooler temps here, I won't be carrying it as much, anyways.  I'll still miss it.  It's more comfortable to carry than my cell phone and prints less than my pager.  Might upgrade to a P3AT for next summer, anyways.

I saw the exact same thing happen to a buddy of mines P32.  The spring did not break, it rusted from pocket carry perspiration.  He carried it every day for a couple years in his front jean pocket.  He is a dealer here locally, and gave it to me.  I sent it in to Keltec and get this.   They fixed it for free, changed the grip to a nice gray colored one for free, and I paid 20 bucks to get the hard chrome upgraded slide installed.  Total cost to me with shipping was about $27 for a new P32.  Their service is great.   I really didn't think spring steel was so vulnerable to corrosion /or there is a quality issue with that particular spring.

They are not the best build guns on the planet.  (sarcasm):D
but they are very lightweight, narrow, and Kel Tec stands behind the warranty 100%, so that combination works pretty well.
