I've got a 1994 preB Transitional that has the safety with the hole in it. Looking at the inside of the frame it appears to have a similar configuration to the B models - in other words, it looks like the parts for the more modern safety would fit. My question then is:
Can the safety be updated and has anyone successfully done so?
Thanks for the help.

I don't have the answer but I'll add to the mystery.
I have two Pre-B's transitional both manufactured in 1994.
One has a safety with the spring built into the back of the safety and sandwiched onto the frame. It does NOT have the safety spring inside the frame next to the sear block.
The other Pre-B has totally different safety as well as slide stop lever. These parts appear older and there is a hole in the safety.

There's a guy on FB that was able to use the B style safety parts on his transitional. He posted it in several different groups within the last day or so.

Yes, I saw that on one FB group after I started this post (may have been the same day). I think I'll order parts and see if I can change it. The first time I took it apart I didn't know about it - took me four hours just to get that little spring and arrow thingy to go back together...
