Post by: jim on August 30, 2005, 05:30:41 PM: have a like new smith-wesson s.s. 38 with 3 inch barrel, its the model 64-5, can anyone give me an idea of what it should sell for?

The last one I bought cost me $250, but it was really tricked out, had a wonderful trigger with trigger stop installed, chamfered cyclinder, bobbed hammer, and was super accurate. It also came with a good IWB holster. (It was 3", with square butt. The round butts are a little more sought-after for CCW use, but don't always get more money.)

Post by: Walt-Sherrill on August 30, 2005, 05:59:27 PM: I just looked in the Fjestad Blue Book -- maybe a year old -- and it shows $275 for a gun in 98% condition. $10 premium for HEAVY barrel. Mine had the heavy barrel.

If you like shooting it and it shoots well, its worth more keeping with the many hours of lifetime pleasure it will give you, unless its a cash crunch scenario.
